Bugaboo is a high-end brand of strollers, related accessories, and practical luggage systems, based in Amsterdam. Bugaboo is well known for its iconic, original design, quality, and durability that is worth paying extra.
Max Barenburg is, in his own words, a person, who is crazy about wheels. In 1994, Max graduated from the 1994 Design Academy Eindhoven with an award for the design of a dutch urban bicycle as well as an award for the Bugaboo stroller. In 1996, together with an investor Eduard Zanem, Max established the Bugaboo brand. Three years later, the first Bugaboo stroller was on the market. It was the Bugaboo Classic, which brought a new concept of putting the fabric of the carrycot and the seat on the same frame. In 2001, the Classic was replaced by the Frog. In 2005, the higher version Cameleon and the simpler Gecko came to replace the Frog. More ‘creatures’ has joined the Bugaboo family in recent years, such as the compact Bee in 2007, the single-to-double Donkey in 2011, the all-terrain Buffalo in 2013 and finally, in 2018 it was the all-purpose Fox. The Bugaboo portfolio also has a jogging stroller Runner with a reversible seat that is compatible with other Bugaboo seats.
Over the years, Bugaboo strollers were innovated and new, improved generations were launched. Changes are not just functional but focused on modernizing the design, colors, and options to personalize the stroller by changing, for example, the handlebar and bumper bar covers or wheel rims. Bugaboo also collaborates with many designers such as Bas Kosters, Marc Jacobs, Paul Frank, Viktor&Rolf, Mini Rodini, Missoni and others. Thanks to the originality and the luxurious finish, various special collections and limited editions are growing more and more popular, despite the higher price.
