Bugaboo Cameleon 3
.eli
The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 is the third generation of the iconic high-end urban Bugaboo Cameleon. It was released in 2012. Of all the versions, it has the most improvements.
The chassis of the stroller has a more robust center and will no longer lock-up after being folded. The significantly larger shopping basket was also improved. You can hear the clicking sound when adjusting the handlebar. It helps you orientate in individual positions. The hand strap is now smaller and not adjustable. The front solid wheels have simpler joints. They can be removed by pressing the white button in the front, instead of pulling the wheel mechanism from above.
The seat and the carrycot textiles are attached to the same frame which is simply attached to a chassis. The bucket seat can be tilted to a fully reclined position. The seat with wider leg rest is reinforced in the joints. The swing-away bumper bar makes it easier to put the child into the seat. The improved safety harness can now be adjusted with one hand simply by sliding it. The Cameleon 3 is available as a 2in1 stroller system, you can also purchase a separate chassis. The basic 2in1 stroller system does not include a color set, which you have to buy separately. Purchasing other ones later will allow you to customize your stroller throughout its lifespan. You can choose between standard length or extendable hoods. With the optional car seat with adapters, you can create a 3in1 stroller system. The Cameleon 3 has a leatherette handle and bumper bar (instead of the foam ones) since 2017.
It can be purchased in many color designs including special and limited editions, best known of which are Sahara, All Black, Neon, collaboration with designers Viktor&Rolf, or collaboration with Diesel - Diesel Military. The year 2017 also brought the New Classic Collection, Kite, Elements, Atelier Collection, designer Niark1 edition and the tiger-patterned We Are Handsome collaboration, followed by the toucan-patterned We Are Handsome col. 2 in 2018.

Parent reviews of the Bugaboo Cameleon 3
The only stroller that met my expectations...
Awesome design. Replacement of canopy cover, etc... Solid frame, not like previous models.
- Low weight
- Design
- Tiny wheels can't handle tougher terrain
- The basket is impractical and difficult to reach under the carrycot
- Price
- Large dimensions when folded
Amazing for the city. Terrain and snow, though, the front mini wheels with suspension can't handle.
- perfect for tall parents
- it's super easy to find preloved accessories and extras
- works wonders on any terrain
- the seat has a fixed L shape which isn't great for the baby's posture when sleeping
- the folding mechanism is prone to breaking...
- doesn't fit in any car, we have a 500L Fiat and it fills our trunk completely
We loved it and used it a lot. But it's got a few flaws...
- lightweight
- compact
- variability of accessories
- seat unit can be clicked on in both directions
- extending canopy
- easy manipulation (even with one hand)
- removable wheels (possible to change the small ones for big in winter and difficult terrain)
- large shopping basket with a weight limit of up to 10kg
- bad access to the basket, when you have the carrycot on
I already have it for a second child. With the older one, we used it for short walks and moving around the city up to her 2.5 years. I didn't need an umbrella stroller or anything "smaller", Cam is compact and reasonably lightweight. We traveled with it also by air (2 times) - while using the convenient Bugaboo travel bag. Except for the really bad access to the basket, when you have the carrycot on, it has no cons for me. But after 7 months it is no longer a problem - the baby then passes on to the seat unit part. We even managed to tackle some difficult terrain - for those often passing through a forest, there is the possibility of changing the smaller wheels for larger ones. Great is also the extendable canopy, and the quick changing of the direction of travel with the seat - even when the child is sitting in it. For me, design-wise, the best on the market, at least at the time we bought it - 4 years ago. 👌🏼
- Hand operated central brake
- Design
- Driveability
- Bad accessibility of the basket with a carrycot
- Felt wobbly
- Price
- The hood seemed all the time creased
- Cumbersome folding, and not in one piece
I expected more, especially with such a high price.
- ease of manipulation
- easy to fold
- lightweight chassis
- extended hood
- many spare parts and accessories available
- rattles on uneven surfaces
- foam handlebar and bumper bar
I bought this pram because of its design, which appealed to me, and also because of its features. Easy to operate with one hand, super easy to walk with it between store shelves. The carrycot is lightweight and easily clicked off and on the chassis. I have a winter baby - the extending hood was an enormous advantage for me. It protects the baby from the wind and makes the inside of the carrycot much warmer, even if it’s cold outside.
I minded the most that the front wheels rattled (my husband solved the problem though) - it’s probably due to their easy replacement system for winter / off-road wheels. Thanks to the easy removability of the front and rear wheels, I could fit two carriages in the trunk of my car, so I could travel even with my friend with no problems. I will stay with Bugaboo - even for a second child.
- for almost every terrain
- quick folding
- fully washable
- easy to change its look
- brake on the handlebar
- fold is not in one piece
The ultimate stroller - it meets about a hundred criteria for an ideal stroller.
- Design
- Basket size
- Price
- Basket functionality/accessibility
- Folding
This is a beautifully designed, timeless, and stylish stroller - but from the practical point of view, it fell short.
The first disappointment was the moment when I went to buy baguettes - and I couldn't put those few pieces in at the same time (so I ended up putting it one by one). The basket is large, but the access with the bassinet on the chassis is almost impossible. Good maybe for a book or a wallet 😜
The handlebar is kind of loose - given the fact that it can be reversed. But the pushing with a reversed handlebar is truly an art to be mastered, and I couldn't.
The folding was also difficult for me. Later on, the folding mechanism was getting stuck, which was another problem.
I loved the bucket-type seat, but my son liked to be in it only when he was awake - he didn't want to sleep in it.
