Bugaboo Ant

The Bugaboo Ant was launched in June 2019. When folded, this ultra-compact stroller looks like a suitcase, which you can pull behind you with its telescopic handle. It is also accepted as cabin luggage by over 50 airlines. The fully reversible seat unit can be reclined fully and even features an extendable hood. No matter in which direction attached to the chassis, when folding, the seat needs to fold in itself and then in half, which assures the minimalist folded dimensions. Another remarkable feature for this type of stroller is the extra spacious shopping basket that can be fold-opened to gain better access or divided into two parts by using the internal section. A part of the shopping basket is easily accessible even after folding. If you need to use the car seat portion of the seat, the whole (folded) seat unit will fit into the shopping basket.

In any direction, the seat offers three positions, including lie-flat. Thanks to the lying option of the seat unit together with the optional insert carrycot, the Ant is suitable from birth. The leg rest is missing, but the length of the backrest can be adjusted depending on the child's needs. Using adapters, you can also attach well-known brands of car seats to the stroller. The Ant comes with a rain cover included. There is also an option for various color configurations of the upholstery and hoods. Complete style sets are available as well - even with different wheel guards and plastic sides, and an offer of various accessories including a carry bag and a sibling board. For 2020, a shoulder strap will be added, as well as an optional, adjustable footrest.

parents say thx^^
  • None
  • Tiny
  • Poorly engineered

It was advertised as the best stroller for travelers but turned out to be very difficult to fold and unfold, it was uncomfortable every time we used it. It was so small, and had no bumper, so one day my daughter fell off it and broke her lip, we had to get sutures for her.

  • You can fold it up really small. But what use is this if it’s not big enough for even a 1 year old?
  • It’s ridiculously small
  • Too flimsy for a baby and too small for a toddler. Might be okay for a 6-9 month old
  • They are lying when they say it can be used up to age 3. I’ve been robbed

Tiny, what child can fit in this? Trading standards should be involved with the 22 kg claim.

  • Compactness
  • Maneuverability
  • Big shopping basket
  • Accessories
  • Possibility to extend the leg rest (accessory)
  • Low canopy

Overall, I rate the Ant as the best travel stroller that could be bought last year.

  • compact
  • short seating area
  • no adjustable leg rest
  • no baby bumper bar
  • feels rickety
  • very small, like for a doll
  • too high a price for such a stroller

Yes, it is a travel stroller suitable for taking on a plane, but extremely impractical. Small, short seating area, narrow. The seat is also too low/close to the ground. I don’t recommend it. It certainly cannot be used with a footmuff. Even in summer, the stroller was chock-full.

Your questions about the Bugaboo Ant

1)

Are the Bugaboo folded measurements taken from the rear wheels? It looks like this is the widest point of the pram. If so, what is the folded width of the Ant without the wheels?

Hi, Alli,

Yes, teh folded measurements are with the wheels, the rear part being the widest point. The manufacturer doesn't provide this - without wheels - measurement (you can try their customer service, maybe they'll help), and I did not measure that personally. YOu can expect a width of about 3~3.5 less, if I can give you an educated guess here.
