Joie Litetrax 4 DLX

The Joie Litetrax 4 DLX is a June 2021 upgrade of the original Joie Litetrax 4. What is new? The difference between the Joie Litetrax 4 and the Joie Litetrax 4 DLX is, first and foremost, in the added handlebar adjustment. The Litetrax 4 DLX allows you to adjust the handle height depending on your needs telescopically. To add to that, the DLX's handle is covered with a more stylish leatherette (as opposed to the foam on the Litetrax 3 and Litetrax 4). Lastly, the Litetrax 4 DLX brings new fashionable colorways as well as no-adapters-needed compatibility with a Joie car seat.
Still a lightweight four-wheeler, the Joie Litetrax 4 DLX boasts a quick, compact, one-handed fold. Meant for urban use, it tries to make the push more comfortable thanks to all-wheel suspension. Thanks to the full recline of the seat, it is suitable from birth. For your newborn, a Joie Ramble carrycot or a car seat are available separately (the 'Maxi-Cosi-style car seats will fit on the bassinet adapters).
Car seats available with the car seat/carrycot adapters:
Cybex Aton 5, Cybex Aton M, Cybex Aton Q, gb Artio Gold, gb Idan Platinum, Joie Gemm, Joie i-Gemm 2, Joie i-Level, Joie i-Snug, Maxi Cosi Rock, Maxi-Cosi Cabriofix, Maxi-Cosi Pebble, Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus.

Parent reviews of the Joie Litetrax 4 DLX
- build construction
- soft wheels
- effective suspensions
- maneuverability
- lever backrest reclining
- sun-open piece of fabric in the canopy when extended
- canopy length is so-so
- basket hardly accessible, nearly impossible to put a bag in
- needs two hands to unfold
I am pretty happy with the Litetrax 4 DLX. It's not perfect, but considering its price, I think it has been a good choice.
EVA wheels are quite soft, so I like their feeling, also when I'm on uneven roads. I don't know if they're good on all terrains; I've tried them on grass (need more strength in pushing) and gravel (between hard and stuck).
Construction seems to be sturdy, and the weight is ok. When folded, it's a bit cumbersome, so it barely fits in my car boot.
Maneuverability is very good, thanks to the wheels' quality and to the effective and soft suspensions.
I like the fabrics, recline angles, and lever reclining system.
I don't like the unfolding system because it needs two hands.
The two major flaws of this stroller, to me, are the canopy and the basket.
The canopy: it isn't very long (in sleeping position, it barely covers the head of the baby), and above all, its main problem is that when you unzip it, you uncover a piece of fabric in peek-a-boo style that doesn't filter the sun. It's like having a window on a "slice" of the canopy.
The basket is hardly accessible, probably because of the low height of the stroller. You can only put small objects in there. Really hard to put a bag in.
- Practical
- Good fabrics and coverage
- Could be lighter
A very nice city buggy. We're happy with it. I just expected it will be a bit more lightweight, I guess.
- well padded
- wide seat
- large hood
- nice basket
- easy fold
- adjustable handle height
- a bit heavy
- a bit noisy on terrain
- leg rest feels short
As a mid size pushchair, GOOD. I like it overall. It's just a bit heavy to me.
- Looks great
- Very nicely padded
- Handle adjusts (finally!)
- Canopy
- Front wheels
- Weight
We returned it. I couldn't lift it in the car (I am quite petite) and the front wheels did this wobbly sound if not on smooth surfaces.
We really like it, just the wheels are not much for terrain. They rattle on bumps. Also, the seat is fantastically padded but a bit short to my taste. But the large canopy and good sun coverage are awesome, and I love the large storage.
Your questions about the Joie Litetrax 4 DLX
I would like to ask what are the compatible car seats that can be used with the Joie Litetrax 4 DLX? Do I need adapter too?
Hi, Dada,
Since Joie Litetrax 4 DLX is a no-adapter system, you can only snap a Joie car seat, in particular a Joie Dedicated car seat that is sold in a travel system with the pushchair. Not everywhere is this system sold. However, that dedicated Joie car seat snaps on the child's bumper bar, which is why only that car seat works - it has a wedge in the back that just fits on the bar. No other brands' car seats are officially compatible to be paired with this stroller.
However, if there is a Joie Litetrax 4 DLX carrycot compatibility available in your country, the carrycot adapters actually accept Joie, Cybex, Maxi-Cosi, Kiddy, Recaro, Nuna car seats.
Try googling 'Joie Litetrax DLX travel system' or write to Joie's customer service about availability.
And check also the Joie Litetrax 4 (without the DLX in name) that does have adpaters for Joie, Maxi-Cosi, Cybex and more car seats with the same attachment system available.
Thank you for answering my question about the Litetrax 4 DLX so quickly! The information you provided was so helpful.
Do you know if the stroller is exactly the same as the original litetrax 4 (in terms of seat size / stroller dimensios)? It seems like the only real differences are the extendable handle bar and the leather rather than foam finish? Plus a couple of points to do with adapters which will make no difference to me anyway.
I was initially looking at the original version and prefer the design of the cup holders and pocket on it for phone, keys etc. So if they are much the same I would probably go for the original.
Thanks again!
Heya, Jill,
There are no real, functional differences in terms of build, wheels quality, push quality or spaciousness, really - the only thing that matters for a parent here is the adjustable, updated handlebar, the seat size did not change. I personally would probably go for the simpler version, if the price was better and I wouldn't be too tall (which would make the extendable handle a must of sorts).
Your description of the stroller says from birth to 15kg. I'm looking at it on the Smyths Toys website as interested in buying and it says from birth to 22kg. This is quite important in my decision making to keen to know which weight is correct?
Hi, Jill,
Every country has different laws and requirements. When introduced to the market, the Litetrax line was, indeed, up to 15 kg - it may be that in your country, the brand did extra weight testing to be able to claim the load capacity of up to 22 kg. However, I must warn you that a 22 kg (a 5-6 years old) will be very, very tight in the seat that is not as long on this pushchair. Also good to know is that most up-to-15-kg strollers of an OK quality can actually handle more than that - the problem is more the room inside than the weight maximum.
