Stokke Xplory V3
.eli
The Stoke Xplory V3 is the third generation of the unique high-end stroller and the best-known Stokke model, released in 2010. The iconic design with the single bar in the center of the chassis, the height-adjustable seat and the bag form of the shopping basket divides opinions and makes the Xplory the most popular as well as the most condemned urban stroller.
The rear side of the stroller chassis was adapted to allow the sibling board to be added. The V3 break is in eye-catching orange color and matches the orange Stokke logo at the back. The chassis of the V3 and higher models features an iconic reflective circle placed in the center joints. The shopping bag also underwent a facelift. The new bag is now made of a color matching, two-tone fabric, without the solid top with mesh. The Stokke Besafe car seat was released together with the V3 version and can be added to the frame without the use of adapters.
The completely updated seat with breathable fabric, which kept its rounded shape till now, is the most obvious update of the Xplory V3. The seat comes with new, larger UV 50+ hood with a visor and an enlarged ventilation panel. The bucket seat is reversible, can be used as parent or forward-facing. You have three recline options when the seat is parent-facing - upright, semi-reclined and a lie flat, and two positions - upright and semi-reclined way when forward-facing. When not reclined, the seat is very upright. It also features a bumper bar that can be removed by pushing a button instead of screwing it off. The fabrics of the V3 have also been upgraded. As the back of the seat is now covered by fabric, the stroller lost the back pocket. The foot rest is rounder and easily adjustable in length thanks to the central button. The seat is suitable for children approximately 6 months of age and older, however, using the optional newborn insert, it can be used from birth. You can put your newborn in the original, sold-separately Xplory carrycot divided in the baby’s feet area, or in an optional car seat. Another added feature of the Xplory V3 is the option of personalization by using seat textile kits (Style Kits) including the summer kit with a sun visor or the insulated winter kit with fur, as well as various other accessories.

Parent reviews of the Stokke Xplory V3
- Lightweight
- You can buy covers of different colours
- Complicated folding
- Can't put a drink holder on it
A pretty urban pram.
Urban stroller. Occasionally unstable on worse sidewalks. A bit too many parts for folding into the car boot. Beautiful fabrics and materials.
- changing of summer and winter kits
- modern design that makes the stroller unmissable
- the seat can face both directions
- the height of the handle can be adjusted to any height, as can the baby's sitting height
- the seat is a bucket seat and has three positions
- the seat is also transferable to the Stokke Crusi or Stokke Trailz chassis 😊
- the whole can be nicely removed and washed
- easy one-hand push
- folds and unfolds quickly
- it is the BEST stroller for our princess 👑
- for me, none so far 😉
It's the best stroller I've ever had. I am extremely 👌 satisfied with it and so is my husband 😘 If one day we decide to have another baby 💖 we will definitely!!! go for a STOKKE XPLORY again... It's our no.1🥇
- Lots of seat height/handle adjustment options
- Adaptable sports section also suitable for a larger child
- Lightweight
- Design
- Possibility to liven it up with the use of kits
- If the seat is rearward-facing, you cannot see the child and cannot recline the seat for sleeping
- There is no basket
- Unstable when going in/out on the curb
- Somewhat complicated to fold and large size when folded
- Unsuitable for off-road use
I guess I'll be the exception, but after trying Stokke I became neither a fanatic nor a hater :-D The stroller is cool, but it didn't win me over. I appreciate the flexibility (height adjustment of the seat/pushchair, handle adjustment...), reasonably designed seat part - it can be nicely adjusted to the age and height of the child, low weight and good maneuverability, the possibility of reviving the stroller with Style, Winter, Summer kits.
What bothered me the most was that if the seat is in the direction of travel, you absolutely can't see the baby (even after opening the canopy through the net I couldn't see the little one). Also, I really missed a basket and when going down and up the curb, I felt like the stroller was going to tip over - I don't know if it was because of the atypical design or because the seat (center of gravity) is higher than other strollers.
- Height-adjustable seating
- Design
- Parent handle very comfortable
- Possibility to change kits and customise the stroller
- Feeling unstable especially when going on/off the curb
- When the child is in the direction of travel the seat can only be adjusted in 2 positions
- Weight
The pram is really a designer one. The parental handle is very comfortable - also because it can be so freely adjusted. I liked that the height of the seat can be adjusted for the child. The possibility to change the kits was also great.
It was, however, hard to get up and down from the curb and my girl was only about 6kg, so I can't imagine it with a heavier baby.
A shaky and small pram, I was not happy with it at all.
- Lightweight
- Not spacious enough seat
- No suspension
- No storage basket
- Many steps for folding
- The bar between the baby's legs did not allow covering with a blanket
I had it for a month while our stroller was in complaint because of the straps.
- practical
- sturdy
- variable
- a lot of accessories
- rides almost by itself
- can be washed completely
- the textile dries quickly (dark blue)
- does not work in rocky terrain
Great satisfaction, see advantages and disadvantages.
I was extremely satisfied with it 😊
I loved it 😁❤️ If I happen to have another baby, I would definitely buy this brand again, but I might try a different option. For me, just great, great, great 👍😊
Your questions about the Stokke Xplory V3
Have you used the Stokke Xplory V3 for travel by plane? I am curious to know if you have to check the stroller at the check-in counter or plane side? Also, is the seat that detaches, is it convertible to be used as a car seat?
Hey, Zoe,
You need to check in unless the airline has a "baby luggage" policy or option in which case you check it with the stewards plane-side. This varies from airline to airline so you have to check with them.
The seat is only a seat, and for the car, you need a separate car seat.
I have just purchased a second hand Xplory V3 the hot pink edition, of course it does not come with a carry cot but I have now found a second hand carry cot base with no fabric included but it’s for the V5. Is this compatible with the Xplory V3 and will my V3 canopy/ hood fit the V5 carrycot and the bumper bar does that attach on the carrycot too?
What fabric set is needed for this carrycot and are all the mattresses the same for all the carrycot too?
Hey, Teaa,
Unfortunately, no, the V5 version went through quite some redesign and the parts are not compatible. You need to find a V3 carrycot (probably in classifieds), and the same goes for the fabrics and mattress (which could maybe fit but not perfectly so I don't recommend it). Try outlets, eBay, and browse second hand offers for the parts as well as for the fabrics - or contact Stokke's customer service to get more info about availability.
Hello,
I have recently purchased a Stokke pushchair. My two-year-old is quite large for his age and I'm worried he will be too big for it. What wright do you recommend for this, plz?
Hey, Charlotte,
The bucket-style, shaped Stokke seat is not the smallest out there, but as a reversible seat unit, it will never be crazy roomy. Not for a larger-for-his-age 2 years old. If he will be too large for the seat, you cannot do much, really. If I should recommend at least partial remedies, I will say - dress him in multiple thinner layers and sweater + jacket instead of puffy, fluffy thick clothes. If needing a footmuff, pick your cosytoes with care and, again, don't go for a fluffy-style one (like, e.g., an Elodie Details footmuff). And, lastly, don't expect much. It's similar to too small jeans - I mean, you won't feel comfy if you're completely squeezed in them. You'll change then eventually.
Do read this article about reversible seats and think about whether you need such a seat for such an older toddler. I mean, this pram is quite bulky and heavy for such a child, I would not want to burden myself as much... Enjoy your pushchair as long as possible and after that, my suggestion would be to change for a non-reversible, world-facing lighter, more compact and more spacious stroller.
