Seed Papilio
The Seed Papilio is a high-end stroller of an original, minimalistic design. The L-shaped chassis is made of durable magnesium and aluminum. Despite its robustness, the chassis offers a simple, very compact fold. The wheels can fold underneath the stroller, creating a very flat and super-compact package, which will fit into the boot of any, even a small car. Thanks to its shape, the chassis offers a natural, shock-absorbing suspension even over uneven terrain. The wheels are wider, the rear ones following the track of the front wheels - which is a guarantee of perfect stability and simple, one-handed maneuverability of the stroller even in a fully loaded condition.
Underneath, there is a storage space in the form of a flat base, which can be used for an optional, large, detachable bag accessible from the top. However, using a zipper opening, you could access the bag from the sides too. With the high weight capacity in the seat, the Papilio can hold up to 23 kg overall. The ergonomically shaped bucket-type Cocoon seat comes with extra padding and can be positioned from a relatively upright seating position to a full recline. You can even tilt out the footrest, even though that is not possible in certain color variations. If you wish to use the seat from birth, it can be completed with an optional newborn insert. Using the carrycot fabric set (included with the newer models from when the Seed brand got to be a part of the Britax brand), you can also create a full-featured, spacious carrycot. The only thing you need to do is replacing the seat unit fabric - the frame stays the same. The hood frame is shared between the seat unit and the carrycot, but each of them has its own separate textiles. The hood of the seat unit can be slightly extended by revealing a ventilation panel. If the sun is too sharp, you can unzip the hood and flip it (creating a floating canopy).
Using adapters, the stroller is compatible with a car seat. The Papilio chassis, fabric, and handlebar are available in several different colors. Except for the pre-set color combinations, the Papilio offers the possibility to mix&match the colors as desired. You can also personalize your stroller by adding plenty of optional accessories, including hood sets, belt pads, a bumper bar, and the practical Companion or Change changing bag.

Parent reviews of the Seed Papilio
I have this pushchair and it's truly perfect.
This stroller is perfect, I wouldn't trade it for the world!
- Sturdy, stable frame
- Pleasant, easy maneuvering
- Folding of the wheels option, very compact fold
- Quality materials
- An absolutely quiet ride
- The same width of the front and the rear wheels
- A comfortable pushchair seat
- Extravagant design
- Two hands folding
- Basket platform with no sides
- A bit hard to use with a footmuff
- All the accessories are sold separately, even a belly bar
- The larges con is the small hood
A truly exceptional pram that catches the eye of anybody immediately (sometimes more than it is pleasant for the driver).
I longed for this stroller for a long time until I dared to get it just because of the design. In terms of driving characteristics, I was extremely happy. The chassis is basically perfect in terms of stability, maneuvering (comfortable with one hand even with a 14kg child), folding (if you need, it can be folded completely flat, thanks to the folding of the wheels inwards), driving even on uneven surfaces is absolutely quiet, no rattling, no squeaking, no clicking ... Of course, it's not a stroller for the woods, but broken sidewalks, cobblestones, even the snow, it can handle without problems.
When driving in the snow, a huge advantage is that the rear and front wheels that follow the same track, so half the effort is enough compared to strollers with front wheels closer to each other. The wheels themselves are not sprung (at least I didn't notice it), but the shape and material of the frame absorb the shocks nicely.
What bothered me very much about the frame was the storage space - a platform, on other strollers I am used to throwing a load of shopping into the basket, which is impossible here, only to pack in plastic bags (there is still a risk of overturning and spilling) - or buying the original bag accessory.
The pushchair part is also unique in terms of shape, it looks very comfortable, the little one liked to spin in it and she also knew how to jump in on her own. The seat nicely surrounds the child, but in winter it is a bit of a problem to push the child into the "hole" of the seat. In the lying position, it's ok, but in the sitting position, my little girl slid down a bit when in a footmuff. Anyway, probably the biggest downside of the stroller is the canopy, it's really small, short, it can be extended a bit, but just with a mesh part - still, it covers only the child's head.
I recommend the stroller for those who like the design and are ready for pleased as well as disgusted onlookers. I also recommend buying the shopping bag accessory to replace the basket, and definitely an extra sun visor. The stroller will repay you by being reliable, high-quality, and a comfortable, quiet ride ❤️
This pushchair is perfect - I wouldnt change it for any other!
Your questions about the Seed Papilio
Hello,
We have a Seed stroller but it does not have a bumper bar! How can I order it?
I live in Sweden!
Thanks
Hey, Metty!
The bumper bar was, at least before, available at distributors/sellers of the Seed brand, or on Amazon. The thing is, as Seed was taken over by Britax, the availability of spare parts rapidly (almost) disappeared.
You can either try and write to Britax customer support, but I don't believe they'll help you. Next, you can go through classifieds and see if somebody doesn't sell this accessory somewhere around you (or further).
And the last piece od advice (I actually used this on my own Seed Papilio, which I loved, btw 😉) would be a "toy" kind of accessory that serves, pretty much, a s abelly bar. I got the ELC steering kit pushchair toy and when needed a bar in the frontpart, I attached this for my boy to play with.
As the Seed Papilio is, however, a bucket-style seat unit pushhcair, I didn't have to use it too often.
Stay safe!
