Tako Captiva Mohican

DISCONTINUED in 2014
see 8 parent reviews

The Tako Captiva Mohican is a variation of the model Captiva. Contrasting -colored parts of the side of the hood, the shopping basket, the changing bag and the apron are forming a shape reminiscent of the Mohawk hairstyle. The Captiva Mohican is a robust stroller system featuring an aluminum chassis, shaped in the form of two half-circles in the rear part. The air-filled wheels can handle even a more demanding terrain, while the rear spring suspension is fully adjustable.

The carrycot, as well as the seat unit, are both equipped with a robust hood, extended by a sun visor. The mattress of the carrycot can be inclined. There is an extra belly safety strap for the child to prevent falling out of the carrycot. The reversible seat unit can be reclined flat and comes with a washable seat liner. Using adapters, you can add a car seat to the chassis. Apart from the basic, two-tone Captiva Mohican (Multicolor) version, the Mohican was also released in the eco-leather edition Captiva Mohican Eco Design; the retro-style, polka dot patterned Captiva Mohican Polka Dots edition; or in the solid-colored edition with melange fabrics - Captiva Mohican Limited.

Don't expect much for this little money

2
  • Nice looking
  • Heavy
  • Prone to get damaged easily

The stroller looks nice at first impression. But the handling is terrible. Don't expect much for this little money. I guess that's how I would describe its quality.

We used it to the maximum

  • Price
  • Accessories included
  • The hood window on the canopy cracked - they didn't make it anymore in later versions

Bought in 2012, 3in1 set for very cheap actually. At that time a great stroller for a nice sum of money, we used it to the maximum 👍❤️ We had a limited edition – Mustang.

I couldn't have chosen better

  • Spacious cot for winter, fits a large footmuff
  • Superb to handle
  • Immediately the leatherette handle cover was twisted off and can't be put back on - it looks like we've had it for 100 years when you look at it

I have 3 in 1 set, great, I couldn't have chosen better.

I was very happy with this pram. Perfect spacious and reclining cot, the little one was like on a cloud. I can not fault this stroller bot practically and visually, it is great. And the absolute best thing is what no other stroller has - how it can protect from the wind whether on the cot or the seat part. I recommend it.

  • Spaciousness
  • Large storage basket
  • Thick canopy
  • In the sports section, leatherette in the foot area
  • Easy to clean
  • Handles terrain well
  • No problems in 3 years of use
  • Price
  • Weight

The stroller is spacious and can fit a child who is large for its age. It has withstood walks, trips into the woods and fields and has easily handled unplowed trails in the winter. It was kept very busy with us - a 5-10km walk every day in all weathers for 3 years. The only minus is that it is a bit heavier. I would definitely buy it again.

  • Good to steer
  • Large wheels
  • Sturdy
  • Large basket
  • Large bassinet
  • Weight
  • Not a very nice design
  • Poor access to the basket
  • Bulky
  • Narrow seat
  • Short hood

I used it only as a pram with the bassinet, then I changed it for another pushchair - mainly because of the weight and the fact that it doesn't look very nice, in my opinion. If I hadn't got it as a gift, I definitely wouldn't have bought it.

Nice and big

4

The pushchair is nice and big. The only minus is probably that it is bulky - like every 3in1 travel system.

  • It is robust
  • Rocking
  • Can handle any terrain, forest, field, gravel, city, hills
  • Has a large extendable canopy and a sunvisor at the footrest that blows in minimally or not at all in winter
  • Can carry large groceries, lots of bags due to how heavy it is
  • Can carry a bigger child or even two children if you sit them down skillfully
  • Heavy and massive
  • It has a smaller changing bag - good enough for some, a bit too small for me, I'm used to carrying all sorts of things
  • Takes up a lot of space in the boot of the car
  • No ventilation window near the head, the only one is on the top of the canopy, so that the mom can look out - in summer it is a big disadvantage, the baby sweats and has no way to air out

For me, a good stroller that meets out expectations. It's not some Mercedes among strollers, more like a decent Skoda Octavia. It can handle terrain - any terrain, it can handle the city, it can rock your baby to sleep, it has enough space for the baby.

I might have appreciated a wider seat, they're all the same length in general, but I got along fine with both kids with the width, until it was cold and needed a cosytoes and overalls, they were 2-5 months old. Then the layers gradually came off, the kids built up in volume too, and by spring my little one was riding on her belly in just a sweatshirt and could look out of the stroller, which she was super happy with. So the stroller was ok for me.

The stroller does look bulky, but again, in the winter, when you need a cosytoes and overalls and to keep the wind out and the heat in, it's great. It has a very extendable canopy, a proper apron, plenty of room in the basket at the bottom for some stuff.

I could easily ride a third kid in it, I have no problem with that.

Your questions about the Tako Captiva Mohican

1)

Where can I buy a rear wheel?

Hey, suning,

I am sorry to say nowhere, really, except for from the manufacturer or a seller of this brand (ideally the one you bought it from). This is an older model, spare parts are not easy to get by, so perhaps browse classifieds for the same model cheaply, you can maybe use it for parts.

2)

How does the brake work? To take it off (release it).

Hello, to activate the brake, you step on the rear part of the brake pedal, after which it will click and stay in the lower position (the rear part). Then it's activated. To release it, you have to do the opposite - lift the rear part with your foot to release it, clicking it into the original, leveled position. If it doesn't work, your pram may be faulty, and I would look for a shop offering this brand that also provides some service and repairs.
