Parent reviews of the Roan Marita Prestige
Great handling, easy to unfold. Inflatable wheels suitable for winter and difficult terrain. The only downside was the brake, which I ruined my leather boots on, and also the bag, which didn't have a shoulder strap (had to be carried in my hand). But those are details...
- it rocksa beautifully
- spacious bassinet
- handles well
- easy to fold
- pushchair mode rather bulky for the car
For me a great stroller! I definitely recommend it to moms who want it to rock their baby beautifully. The bassinet is big and spacious, so even if you have a baby in summer or autumn, you can be sure that even with a footmuff you will be able to fit in it at baby's six months. My little one fit in the bassine at 10 months – and she's not exactly a tiny baby.
The seat is great too, just less compact in the car. A small minus is the bag with no strap (I solved that by putting a strap from my laptop and no one even noticed).
- Suspension
- Large carry cot
- Spacious basket
- Folding
- Weight
Plus points for the pram part, which is like a tank and can really go through any snow, mud, etc. thanks to the super suspension. It is "rocking", so the baby sleeps joyfully.
- Space in the car seat and also thebassinet
- There are no cons
Absolutely unbeatable stroller! All-terrain!!! Big, spacious! Great.
- Great for terrain
- The handle on the seat cannot be removed
- No extending of the hood
A classic, almost "retro" stroller.
- Large bassinet
- Rocking
- 4 same-sized wheels
- None so far
We don't use it yet, but I was surprised by the huge carrycot, which made me choose this stroller. It's not too luxurious, but comfortable for the little one.
- Robust
- Spacious
- Leatherette material
- Rocking
- Stylish
- Easy to handle
- Bulkier in the car
Our favorite. We have been very satisfied and it is also affordable. Leatherette, so great for the rain too.
- deep, spacious bassinet
- both the seat and the bassinet can be rearward and forward-facing
- can go over almost any terrain - from muddy dirt roads in spring to snow in winter
- super bouncy - my son falls asleep in it immediately in all circumstances :-)
- unfortunate attachment of the seat canopy
- no swivel wheels - I didn't mind, on the contrary :-)
- no shifting, flippable handle, you have to shift the whole body (seat, bassinet)
We bought this stroller second hand, after two children. The previous owners took perfect care of the stroller, so it was like new :-) The only thing we had to replace over time were the springs on the chassis. They were looser on one side and the stroller was slightly tilted to one side - which annoyed me personally. But at first glance, no one would have noticed it. We got the spare parts just fine. You could say it was a matter of a few bucks.
I am very happy with the stroller. We live in a village, so there are 90% of the roads are difficult in terms of terrain (either dirt roads or asphalt, but broken...). We go outdoors and on trips a lot and I've never had a problem crossing any terrain. The stroller can be comfortably operated with one hand, it is not heavy to handle. The bassinet part on the stroller is beautifully spacious and large. The seat is also great, reclining back and footrest. Spacious enough - now in winter my son fits comfortably in there with a winter footmuff. The only weakness I can see is the attachment of the hood on the seat - when the wind blows hard, it blows into the stroller from the side.
Some friends have told me I'll be miserable without the swivel wheels. So I didn't miss them in any way. Even in stores with narrow aisles, the stroller is pretty easy to manipulate.
I would definitely recommend the stroller, I wouldn't want another one myself :-)
It's hard to judge. Carrycot was great, I would give 10 stars there. The seat unit totally, absolutely sucks.
- spacious cot and seat, too
- solid, sturdy chassis that really rocks
- large inflatable wheels
- canopy without extension and without ventilation
- the handle cannot be positioned, it will suit rather taller people
- wire basket, need to watch out for smaller objects and puddles :-)
- outdated and impractical system of putting on the cot/seat
- unbraking can damage shoes
- larger size even after folding
I had a Roan Marita Elegance (it has smaller wheels than the Prestige). I used it to put my little one to sleep on the terrace. It is perfect for this purpose as it rocks wonderfully.
The stroller has a huge spacious cot and also the seat. The cot - bassinet is really deep and fits a one year old baby just fine. The seat can be clicked on in both forward and rearward facing directions and is really spacious, especially in width. The canopy is common for both parts, without the possibility of extension, and - what I missed - was the mesh part in the canopy (especially on hot days).
The frame is sturdy and solid, with large inflatable wheels. It can handle rough terrain, but it has one downside - the handle cannot be positioned. It's quite high, so a shorter mum will have it in the height of her chest when strolling.
The basket is just wire, so smaller items will fall out of it. Alternatively, if you go through puddles, the contents of the basket will be splashed. But, what surprised me, it doesn't rattle at all.
The stroller is quite large even when folded. The wheels tend to catch rust and you also have to watch out for the covers, which fade quite quickly. What bothered me about the stroller was probably the outdated system of attaching the cot/seat to the chassis. Two pins on each side that have to be hit into the frame to fit (this system was used when I was riding in the stroller :-D) - it's quite impractical and makes a clicking sound when the stroller is rocked harder. It's a shame, because apart from that the stroller really is absolutely silent. And also the unbraking is quite strangely designed - it can damage shoes, or if I was wearing only sandals I would be afraid of hurting myself.
Your questions about the Roan Marita Prestige
Hello!
At what age can the baby start using the seat unit, as opposed to the carrycot? Does it depend on which reclining position the seat unit is set?
Our kid is 5 months old, sitting with support but not yet sitting unsupported.
Thank you!
Hi, Hannah,
The right age and way to put your baby in the seat is well described in this article I wrote, literally because I had many mums asking me the same thing. Be sure to read it to know more.
In short, however, you should never put your baby in the sitting position if the baby didn't sit up by itself, and until that time, you can actually use the seat in the reclined position even right from birth if you need. So, your child can most certainly start using the seat if you use it in the fully reclined setup.
Does the Marita come with a mattress?
Hi, Tony,
Do you mean the carrycot of the Roan Marita? That, yes, comes with a mattress - all bassinets normally do come with a mattress included.
If you mean the seat and some kind of cushioning seat liner, that depends, but normally, no, there's no soft insert on the seat. Any universally fitting one should do, however - it just needs to be purchased separately.
I have the Roan Marita Prestige that someone gave me the fabric on the carrycot is looking worn out is there a way I can just get the new fabric without having to buy a new carrycot or stroller ?
Hello, there!
Well, no, not really, you can't just buy it, their spare parts are very hard to get by overall, and very rarely available - if so, usually through the seller/distributor, or directly from the manufacturer after contacting customer service.
From another point of view, to find a good seamstress, and have her made a copy based on the internal fabric that is able to be removed, this I already saw moms do in such a case. The same goes for seat upholstery and the canopy (on the canopy, usually removing means destroying the original fabric since it needs to be cut out).
If, on the other hand, the outside carrycot fabric is damaged, that is pretty much "glued" to the base and so cannot be changed - that would mean getting a new carrycot (or pram).
