Maxi-Cosi Zelia

see 3 parent reviews

The Maxi-Cosi Zelia is a luxurious stroller system featuring a 2-in-1 seat unit, new for 2018. Zelia's seat easily transforms into a carrycot (and back to the seat), you just need to unfasten and release the bottom straps. It is quite robust, yet very lightweight and compact folding thanks to the foldable seat. Quality wheels equipped with rear suspension can handle even a rough urban terrain. On a shopping trip, you will appreciate the large shopping basket with an easy access.

The reversible seat can be reclined fully. It comes complete with a soft seat liner insert. Because of smaller dimensions of the seat unit, the Zelia is an ideal ‘starting’ stroller which can be later, when the child is bigger, substituted by a more spacious lightweight stroller or an umbrella stroller. Using adapters with memory buttons, you can also attach a car seat to the Zelia. This stroller was also launched under the sub-brand as a Bébé Confort Zelia.

parents say thx^^

There's a problem with the wheels getting stuck and squeezing off the stroller. The seat is a bit short to fit weight size.

  • convertible pram-pushchair
  • price
  • design
  • basket
  • small, narrow and short seat
  • not too much suspension

It's super nice that it converts from a pram to a pushchair, but since our child is a tall one, the seat's too narrow as well as too short around the age of a year already! How come the weight capacity is so high, then?

  • 2in1 carrycot + seat unit
  • rain cover, bumper bar, apron included
  • beautiful design
  • a perfect, extra-large canopy that shades well and also protects from wind
  • large basket
  • chassis + handlebar joints squeak from the start
  • to unbuckle the harness buckle, you need to exercise an extreme force

The travel system is beautiful and has a luxury canopy as well as a super large basket - but that's where the pluses end, unfortunately. After about a month, it started squeaking - the wheels and the telescopic handlebar joints as well.

The reclining of the seat part is hell - you need to push two circle buttons on the side, and they get stuck all the time. To put a child in a sitting position after a nap got to be an almost impossible task. If you manage to do it somehow, it's another fight to recline it back again if the child starts to be sleepy again. The buckle is incredibly hard to open, even my husband sometimes sdoesn't have enough strength to do that, It's a shame, because the pram is beautiful. I decided based on the brand, but this model is completely out of Maxi-Cosi concept as I know it.

Your questions about the Maxi-Cosi Zelia

1)

This stroller has horrible reviews but I like the seat that is also convertible to a bassinet. Do you have recommendations for any other strollers (doesn't have to be this brand) with this feature?

Hey, Jay,

In general, this type will have a smaller seat, since it is limited by that bassinet size / feature. But there definitely are models that have a larger seat, compared to the Zelia which has it very tiny, which is something people complain about a lot.

I would suggest looking at the Kinderkraft XMoov which is a bit bulkier but also has a much roomier seat, and the overall price-performance ratio is very nice, too. Then there's the Mothercare Journey which is OK but not really outstanding, quality-wise - if you're not too demanding, it could work for you though. The Valco Ultra Trend is also convertible, even if perhaps a little differently - the seat, with the included bootinet, will serve you as a kind of bassinet setup as well.

The older Inglesina Magnum had a similarly convertible bassinet, however the system was a little different - maybe worth looking in classifieds. And I personally have experience with the GB Hardy, again an older model that is probably only available second-hand at this moment, which had a very nice seat space and overall worked rather well.

Hi Eli,

are there any better - air-folled, foam-filled or gel-filler tyres available for the Zelia? The ride is so bad with the foam wheels, my baby is being shaked by everything on the ground...

Thanks!

Hello!

Unfortunately, there are no wheels available - not even the original ones - to be purchased separately. As a spare part, the EVA foam wheels that are supplied with the pram are probably achievable... but that is not what you want.

To your question, no air-filled or similar, more all-terrain wheels can be clicked on the Zelia frame. As a budget-friendly stroller system, it was made simple and not all-terrain a tall (also because of the rather weak suspension), and there are not that many extra features or accessories available. You will need to live with the pram as-is and, perhaps, swap it after a few months for something lightweight/compact, maybe mid-size, forward-facing, with better wheels/suspension.

Even if you found similar wheels that somehow would be able to be fitted to the chassis, it might be dangerous as there are no wheels that are compatible (and the axles might just unclick at any moment).
