Maxi-Cosi Nova 4
The Maxi-Cosi Nova 4 (in a contrast to a three-wheel version, the Nova 3) is a luxurious four-wheel stroller or a stroller system. It is based on the design of the popular all-terrain Mura. The stroller has received the Reddot award in 2017. Large, no maintenance wheels are providing a very comfortable ride while you don’t need to worry about getting a flat tire! There is a simple brake activated by pushing a pedal on one side and deactivated by pushing a pedal on the other side. The front two-wheel axle can be removed as one piece. Theoretically, you can swap it for the single-wheel axle, but it is not available separately. Thanks to the air-operated technology, the fold of Nova’s wide chassis is particularly unique. Following the activation, the Nova folds automatically. When folding, the seat needs to be either forward-facing and upright or taken off the chassis completely. Once folded, there is a possibility to reduce the width of the Nova 4 even more by pushing and then pulling on the central mechanism. The shopping basket sits high and is rather shallow. Items which are sticking out of the shopping basket can be fastened by the integrated rubber bands.
Thanks to the memory button, you can take the carrycot, the seat or the car seat off the chassis easily, using just one hand. The reversible seat unit can be reclined flat, including the adjustable leg rest. The Nova 4 can be turned into a full travel system suitable from birth. It allows you to attach the spacious, foldable Oria carrycot, or, using adapters, a car seat - both need to be purchased separately. There are many other optional accessories including the Universal Anti Theft Protection. This stroller was also launched under the sub-brand Bébé Confort as the Bébé Confort Nova 4.

Parent reviews of the Maxi-Cosi Nova 4
The stroller handles beautifully - 360° rotation on the spot, which I appreciate very much. I can control it comfortably with one hand. We are still using the bassinet, i.e. Vicky is 6 months old and still fits in it with a footmuff, which I was quite worried about (how long the deep one will last). The deep carrycot has a snap-on sun visor, it can either be fully retracted inside the carrycot or pulled out as needed. However, I don't think it is sufficient for direct sun and I used it in the summer along with a diaper. However, I appreciate the handle on the bassinet which makes it easy to manipulate.
Getting the basinet on/off the chassis, even a seat or car seat, is easy. You simply snap the aforementioned on and when you want to take it off, the chassis has two buttons on the sides. You simply press and remove. Again, one hand is all it takes.
The chassis has a figure-of-eight suspension type, so the weight of the stroller is directed to its centre. The stroller is suitable for off-road use. We have tested city cobbles as well as mountain and forest paths. Okay, we'll probably take it everywhere, but don't expect the baby to not move in the bassinet. You'll look in vain for a roomy, deep basket on the chassis. You'll have to make do with a smaller but cleverly designed basket that has at least three bungee cords to hold and secure your "cargo". Bear in mind that there isn't as much space under the bassinet as under a seat/car seat. However, I can fit my 5,5kg dog in it :)
Folding is great. There is no need to take the seat off. The chassis can fold itself. You can remove all the wheels, which are foam, so you don't get a puncture anywhere. The only thing that bothered me - I bought the stroller later than the seat, knowing that the stroller comes with adapters compatible with Maxi Cosi seats and also Cybex. I had bought the Cybex and had to change it afterwards = we tried putting it on the chassis after the little one was born, we should have tried before. Which was an unnecessary complication.
- Design
- Superb in rough terrain
- Easy folding
- Good handling
- Robust, larger/bulkier
- Heavy
Excellent stroller for the terrain. Good 5-point fastening, covers easily washable. Quality materials and workmanship.
- Auto-fold activated by foot
- All-terrain wheels and shock absorbing
- Sturdy
- Padded
- Heavy and bulky so not for small cars
- Storage basket size
Very large (and bulky) so great for any terrain. The fold is easy, automatic, do count on a need for a large boot. The basket could be bigger for such a heavyweight. Overall great if needing an all-terrain.
- Sturdy chassis
- Parent- as well as forward-facing seat
- Large wheels that are able to go through anything
- Backrest recline, suitability for children that don't sit independently yet
- Leg rest - adjustable
- A fitting rain cover that doesn't look like a crumpled plastic bag
- A lot of optional - and well-fitting - accessories
- Great suspension
- Adjustable handle
- Lifetime warranty
- Small under seat basket
- Higher weight
For me, love at first sight! It's not only beautiful but also practical and reliable.
Your questions about the Maxi-Cosi Nova 4
Do the back wheels tuck in when the stroller is up?
Hey, Jane,
I am not sure what you mean. The back wheels, however, are not "movable" anywhere as far as I know, and even after folding, you need to remove them if they are in the way or you find the stroller too bulky.
Please tell me which adapter is needed to purchase to connect my maxi cosi mico plus baby capsule. Please send pics and the name of adapter. Many thanks 😊
Hi, Nessa,
You need these adapters - pretty much you only search for Maxi-Cosi car seat adapters, there's no special name for these.
