Joolz Aer+

The Joolz Aer+ is a luxurious ultra-compact travel buggy and the second generation - an evolution of the original Joolz Aer. Released in 2023, it was awarded the Reddot Design Award and can boast one of the sturdier frames with a nice enough suspension for the type, plus a seat unit more spacious than most.
The Aer Plus differs from the original Aer not only in new colorways and a higher weight capacity but mainly in the possibility to recline much more. Not a 180-degree recline, though the seat reclines enough for smaller babies and can be considered a full recline. Another upgrade is a larger sun hood.
The Joolz Aer Plus stroller comes with a carry bag included - everything else, including the rain cover, bumper bar, leg rest, cup holder, carrycot/bassinet accessory, or car seat adapters have to be purchased separately.

Parent reviews of the Joolz Aer+
- Quality materials
- Sturdy frame
- Comfortable seat
- Big canopy
- Easy to manouvre
- Accessories not included
- Zip system to pull down seat
This is a fantastic stroller.
I bought this stroller a few months ago and have been so happy with it. It looks great, the seat is comfortable and padded. The frame is sturdy and easy to manouvre. The closure system, although stiff in some instances, works really well. The seat is as upright as it can be on a compact stroller. The canopy offers great cover. The only two downsides are that the zip system to pull down the seat is not the easiest, especially when the child is in the stroller, and also that all the accessories are not included in the purchase price and also quite expensive. Apart from these two cons I would highly recommend it.
- Looks fabulous
- Feels like really good quality
- It is really lightweight and not a bother to take in and out of the car multiple times a day
- Fold is absolutely amazing, so quick and easy
- Unfold is equally amazing
- The wheels are nice and smooth and very quiet
- The elasticated shoulder strap is great
- The canopy is a very good size
- The zip recline is a pain
- The canopy material (and a wire) gather around the top of the seat back (annoying for my 3 year old but doesn’t bother my baby yet)
- The (essential) footrest has to be bought separately
- The bumper bar also has to be bought separately and is very expensive
- I would prefer if the straps were a bit stiffer
- There is no rain cover, the only thing included is a travel bag, as the whole point of this stroller is that it can be taken on board a plane I don’t see any use for the travel bag and would much prefer if a rain cover or even better a footrest or bumper bar would be included instead
On the whole it is a great little buggy, other models I considered were the Ergobaby Metro and Bugaboo Butterfly… sometimes a little part of me wonders would the Butterfly (particularly the recline and the seat back) have been better... but I got the Aer+ for a great price so decided to go for it.
Your questions about the Joolz Aer+
Hello!
I've purchased the Joolz Aer+ Carry Cot and it folds great, but it doesn't seem to lock into place to use it as a stand-alone bassinet. I pull it open so it looks like it's ready to use, but since there's seemingly no way to lock it into place, the whole thing folds back down with a slight bit of pressure. I tried researching this issue but all the info I've found is about how it folds, not how it stays open. I feel like I'm missing a very simple but key detail in knowing how it works! Thanks!
Hey, Chloe,
The Aer/Aer+ are super compact, travel strollers, and their carrycot is pretty much meant to be used open on the frame of the stroller only - not really for overnight sleeping or full featured use on the ground. It can even be folded on the frame after releasing the lower side lever, which even underlines that lack of sturdiness as a standalone.
That being said, it should not fully collapse until a lever is released, so for it to not collapse, make sure the lever is not released - it should stay closed. Here's the Joolz Aer cot manual so that you can check what I mean.
In any case, as I said, the cot is not really meant to be used as a standalone carrycot nor for overnight sleeping, it could be a hazard.
Hi Eli,
I'm torn between getting the Jooz Aer + or the Nuna Triv Next for my newborn (born with the added carrycot). I live in a flat in London so will need something thats easy to travel with and compact. Do you have any preference of one over the other? Particularly thinking about ease of push and manoeuvrability for day to day use. Thanks 😊
Hey, Emma,
If you are thinking about the only stroller, and from birth, the Aer+ is definitely not the best choice. It is very small, with small wheels, and made for more like travel, shops, and occasional / second stroller use. It is not sturdy enough for a regular everyday use with a newborn in my opinion.
The Nuna Triv Next is definitely a larger, sturdier stroller, and I think that is a much better choice to go for from birth, frame and wheels-wise, so I will recommend that one (over the Joolz).
Hi Eli,
I'm looking to buy a new stroller for my 1 year old baby. It will be used for everyday use, public transport, traveling and it needs to fit in a small car trunk, so pretty much it needs to be as close as possible to the holy grail of strollers! I'm between the Aer+ and the Bugaboo Butterfly (you are more than free to suggest another one). As my baby likes to take naps in the stroller, I'm a little put off by the Aer+ reclining system.
Thanks in advance!
Hey, Angie,
I know what you mean with the reclining system, however, if we're talking about everyday use (which none of these were actually build for, this is good to acknowledge), the Aer is the sturdier one, with a bit more comfortable push. So personally, at least at this super small size, I would go for the Aer+. I don't think there is a better-made one in this stroller category.
Apaprt from that, I would honestly go for something a tad larger. Whether the Inglesina Maior, TFK Dot 2, or the Oyster Zero, but that size and wheel size will make life comfier for the little one and you too. Just saying!
Is the Joolz Aer+ seat unit compatible with the Joolz Aer chassis / base?
Hey, Saz,
This is a very unusual question, honestly I never tried. I think that in theory it could be, the frame did not change much in that aspect, but officially there is not info about that. I think you would do best contacting Joolz's customer service and ask them that.
Hello!
I need to buy a travel stroller for my baby and I will start using it when my baby is 5,5 months. I was looking into Joolz Aer+ but I am not sure it is enough reclined. Otherwise, I saw the Metro+ Deluxe. Any advice? Thanks
Hey, Sere,
The Aer+ is definitely reclining enough, so if you'll use it in that fully reclined position, you can use it for a 5.5mo.
The Metro+ is also a good choice, but the Aer+ definitely pushes better and it is also more spacious.
Hi,
We are considering of getting the Joolz Aer+ but I wonder if the carrycot for the Aer will fit into this new model. I wouldn't be willing to buy a brand new carrycot specific for this model as this is very expensive. The previous model is on sale so I wonder if this would fit into the new model.
Thank you.
Hey, Maria,
As far as I know, the attachment system hasn't changed. That means the carrycot/bassinet for the Aer SHOULD fit the Aer Plus, yes. To be 100% sure, the best is always to ask their customer service as well, OR try it in a store. I personally am, however, rather sure it will fit.
