Jané Rider
The Jané Rider is an easily maneuvrable stroller designed mainly for the city, but also able to do a little off-roading. The inverted "C" shaped rear structure makes room for your feet so you will not kick the stroller while walking. It has a good suspension system with an adjustable spring tension. The reversible bucket-type seat is placed higher, so you can also use it as a high chair. It can be tilted to a fully reclined position. The storage space of the small shopping basket can be expanded by a sold-separately net basket fastened to the rear part of the chassis.
The seat and the carrycot are attached to the chassis using the Pro-Fix system. All the newer types of carrycots will also fit this attachment system. You can choose among the Micro or the Nano foldable carrycots or the Transporter or the Matrix Light carrycots that can be used in the car. You can also attach a Concord or Be Cool carrycot to the chassis. An optional car seat is also available, or you can buy the Rider as a complete stroller system. The latest models have an innovative soft-touch handle instead of an older fabric-coated one. You can also identify them by the modern textiles and an improved hood with an extra zip-out panel and no peek-a-boo window.

Parent reviews of the Jané Rider
Satisfaction with the pram, the only little thing - my boy grew out of it quickly. For us – practical car seat for longer trips.
I was a little worried about getting used to the 4 wheels, having had a Slalom before. But the stroller is great, easy to handle, compact enough. I'm really happy with the Jané brand, even though they are one of the more expensive strollers. If I have a second child (though not planning on that), I'm going to go to Jané again. Ever since I felt my friends' strollers, none of them had what this stroller does. Perhaps the Peg Perego was still good to drive as well... no other model I tried was.
Very good, nice baby carriage. Great for shorter mothers, although the handle can be adapted to taller ones...
In the carry cot, which can serve as a car seat, there is a pull-out backrest - great for reflux. I have no complaints about the carriage.
- It folds perfectly
- Very easy to handle
- Well sprung
- Takes up little space when folded
- Good rubber wheels that don't rattle
- Handles any terrain - even a little snow
- A little smaller bassinet (Transporter), but you can also buy a Micro and it is bigger
- Small basket
- The seat is a bit smaller, so up to 2,5 years
The perfect stroller, definitely recommended. It is really easy to ride.
- light
- very vey good to push
- plastic wheels
- very small wheels
- rocking
- the bassinet is tilted, so my baby was constantly sliding down to the legs part
- low
Very easy to handle. Lightweight. The bassinet is very deep - but rocking, so my baby kept sliding off. Plastic wheels are very small - so you feel every bump, can't talk about terrain capability at all. Really a stroller for the city only. The hood is adjustable - this suited me fine.
I recommend it. I have been using it with 3 children for 3 years, and it withstood our daily use. It's high-quality, easy to push, the seat unit is reversible (both forward- and parent-facing), compact, plus the easily removable and machine-washable fabrics... The chassis is compatible with Concord Neo click-on parts, so it's possible to swap between them and combine the chassis with what you need.
Your questions about the Jané Rider
Hello, we found out that the Jane Rider car seat Koos has naphthalene (a bad chemical) in its fabric. Now we cant find out if it's in all the fabrics of the other parts or how badly it is. If it was that bad, it would be forbidden to be sold right?
Hi, Jarno!
And how did you find out about this? Did you test it or did you read it somewhere, or did someone just tell you about it..? I am not saying it's true nor it is not true,
I am not a chemist - but I am checking the Jané Koos R1 car seat in ADAC test, which is probably the most detailed and difficult test to pass for a car seat, and the safety score there is 1.9, which is a great score - and for Schadstoffe, meaning bad chemicals, the grade is 1, so the best possible. I don't believe they wouldn't notice something they are desperately searching for and put very low scores for some car seats. Check the Jané Koos car seat ADAC test here.
If we're talking about the older Jané Koos i-size, its test, however, truly shows a bad Chemicals test in
. This is by all means not good, but the thing is, the child is not in the car seat for the whole day - the actual limit at a time should be about 30 minutes, then a pause. If, following this rule, you also take the measure of getting a cover for your car seat, the harm should be minimal to none at all. Of course, you can still email the Jané company, asking whether they were recalled or are considered safe in general - if safe, you can definitely use it. You’ll pass on to a larger car seat in a few months’ time anyway.
So, what I amgoing to suggest here is to double-check your source and the type of the Koos car seat you have. If you're finding out its the older one and feel like the chemicals in the covers are too dangerous, write/call directly to Jané as they should have the best answers and/or make a recall if it would be health-damaging. I don't believe it could be sold if health-threatening, though, as harmful car seats are not allowed to be sold, yes, just as you say.
