Hauck Duett 2

see 1 parent review

The Hauck Duett 2 is the second generation of the Hauck Duett. It is a stroller with a 2in1 pramette seat that can be used for a single child or in a tandem configuration suitable for two children.

You can convert the main seat into a carrycot (and vice versa) by simply unfastening the buckles. Compared to the original model, it comes in a new design with an aluminum frame and an extendable hood with an enlarged sun visor and a zip-out ventilation panel. It can be tilted to a fully reclined position using the new button mechanism located on the sides. You can reverse it in the single mode as well as in the duo one. The stroller comes with the included second seat which, when attached, is oriented into the shopping basket. You can also recline it, but only partially. The handle can be adjusted telescopically instead of rotating. Folding levers are located on the sides of the handlebar.

The Duett 2, due to the different seats, is suitable for a younger and an older sibling. You can use it for twins, but only when at least one of them is able to sit independently. It is not possible to attach a car seat to the newer Duett 2 model.

Your questions about the Hauck Duett 2

1)

Can I put the toddler (second seat unit) on top so swap the seats around? I find that my toddler weighs the pram down?

Hi there,

Unfortunately, no, it is impossible. The second seat has a completely different attachment system and also center of gravity. You have no way of swapping the seats.

2)

How high is the second seat unit, my child is big for his age at 2 and wanted to know how tall the second seat is to see if he would fit in the seat or not?

Hello, Hannah,

I must say that for a larger 2 years old, the seat might just be too small. Also good to know is that tandem prams are not only smaller in the seat, but also not that easy to push with heavier children - and this one, as a cheaper model, not even that sturdy. I personally would not get this model, and probably no tandem stroller for a large 2-year-old toddler.

About the exact seat back height, I don't have an exact measurement, as the manufacturer doesn't state it and I don't have the stroller on me to measure it for you.

For illustration, I am attaching Hauck's product picture with an approx. 1 year old child in the second seat - just imagine yours instead.

3)

Hi,

I've been using this stroller but the chassis is wobbly and I can't for the life of me figure out what Allen key is needed to tighten it, do you know what mm Allen it is, please?

Hey, Bekilouise,

I am sorry to say I don't know. Even the manual doesn't say, so I suspect you won't even help yourself that much with the right size. The size I would only try to guess just as you are, so perhaps to visit a shop with such things and try out more is the best way to go at it.

Also, you should try to contact Hauck customer service or any contact (+49 09562-986 888, by mail: service@hauck.de), they should advise you exactly what to do (if something is possible to do about it).

I don't want to disappoint you but the plastics used in the joints are not the most high-quality ones so it might be the wobbliness is a general problem of loosened of different parts of the pram and won't be fixed with just tightening of screws. I wish I am wrong, though.

On the Hauck Duett 2, the carry cot has straps as it obviously converts to a seat. When using it for a new born as a carrycot. What do you do with the straps?

Heya, Amy,

You do nothing with them when in the bassinet mode. They should just hang loosely, I'm afraid. This is a cheaper pram and the design solution was, therefore, made simple. The straps should just hang open until you pass on to the pushchair mode - then, you'll click them close and they will not be hanging around anymore.

Thank you for your reply but the manual and the you tube video you sent me only shows the rain cover being placed over the seat unit but not the attaching it.

Are these Velcro bits just for show as they clearly do not attach to the unit? So the rain cover can easily be blown off or pulled by the child..? Bit of a design flaw.

Hey, Schnare,

You are right; the design is not perfect. The velcros, however, SHOULD attach either to the frame of the seat unit (but it's not made so that it allows it, I believe) or around the joint where the attachment points are. I personally would try to wrap the velcros around the central joint OR at least the bumper bar sides. I also think that it is not best to leave it just like that. Also, if nothing works, I would try to CONNECT the two velcros under the seat to secure it that way.

The Hauck strollers are the low-end ones, though, so you need to take that into account when thinking about the design - they are made in China, for a very low price, so that it is primarily affordable. I found more design flaws like that with their products.

6)

How do I attach the main seat rain cover, as I can see it has two little black Velcro parts but nothing on the seat unit to attach it to (or not that I can see)?

Hello, Schnare,

Have you tried consulting the manual? If you have the right rain cover, it should not be overly hard. But you are right, there are ONLY those two velcros to secure it on the sides, not much securing elsewhere. The way should be that you'll pul it on so that the sides go over the frame of the seat, then secure the two velcros.

Here's a picture from the manual:

And here's a video manual - the lady puts the main seat raincover at 2:20.
