The Gesslein Indy is a stylish, award-winning high-end stroller. The chassis features an all-wheel suspension and is easy to maneuver. The design of this stroller is focused on the central joint which has multiple uses. It is the point where the carrycot, the seat unit, and the car seat are attached, where the handlebar is reversed, as well as where the folding of the stroller is centered. Wheels are made of hardened rubber. Thanks to the inbuilt air chambers, the tire is lighter, easily maneuvrable and sticks to the surface better. At the same time, it is quite sturdy, offering the advantages of an air-filled tire.

The Indy can be fully customized. You can choose either white, black or anodized silver chassis. The black, titanium, cognac or tobacco colors of the leatherette handlebar covers and bumper bars are available. Most importantly, the choice of four types of the seat unit allows you to create your desired variation of the Indy. You can choose the modern Style seat positioned slightly higher on the chassis, the hammock-type Sport seat with a strap recline system, the Active bucket seat, the brand-specific Comfort (originally named Classic). The Gesslein offers a choice of the carrycot too so you can create a system suitable from birth. There is the simplest, classical Smart carrycot featuring the breathable mattress which has replaced the stylish Relax carrycot. The Bubble carrycot is spacious and its mattress can be inclined. The carrycot can also be replaced by the soft carrycot Cozy which has a firm, ventilated base. The Cozy is only compatible with non-bucket seats Comfort, Sport or Style. You can also attach a Gesslein or a different brand car seat to create a travel system. There is a rather large amount of accessories that can be purchased to compliment the Indy: front all-terrain, fixed wheels, various types of footmuffs, the Indira changing bag, an apron, a parasol or even an electrically heated handmuff for the parent.

The reversible Style seat unit can be reclined flat in both directions and is sitting higher on the chassis. It comes in a great choice of many stylish colors for the seat fabrics. The Style seat also features an original seat liner matching the hood.

I fell in love with it at first sight

4
  • design, look
  • quality materials
  • ease of manipulation
  • lightweight for a stroller system
  • many original accessories
  • maintenance-free, puncture-free wheels that don't take in gravel
  • large, easily accessible shopping basket
  • short canopy when the seat unit is in the lying position
  • needing to take out all the harness straps to put in a footmuff
  • you cannot fold the chassis with the seat unit still attached with the Style version
  • higher price
  • after a year of use, the central joint started to squeak

I wanted this one having the F6 - because of the design. I fell in love with it at first sight. I liked that not everybody has it, and the combination with white leather is incredible, in my opinion.

My husband bought me the Style version with the Smart carrycot. I have a bigger child, but he fit in the carrycot until his 6 months anyway. Maneuverability is great, even with one hand. Excellent to fold in the car. Every detail is well-thought-of. The leather is easy to maintain, did not crack (daily use in all weather conditions), and did not turn yellow. A big advantage is also that there are no brake- or other wires - everything is integrated into the chassis. The stroller is also very lightweight for a 2 in 1 system.

I take the system of the harness as a minus - if I want to use a footmuff, I have to remove them from the backrest completely (with my F6, I only needed to open the buckle). Also, it is less spacious than the F6 (but the F6 is more spacious than an average stroller, which I think is worth mentioning). A disadvantage is also a shorter hood - when I put it to a full recline, I have to put in some additional shade.

  • quiet wheels, good for all kinds of terrain
  • spaciousness
  • high quality
  • large basket
  • both forward-facing and rearward-facing options
  • takes up my whole car boot space
  • higher price

Our first stroller system and we're absolutely satisfied with it. Design- and features-wise, there are no negatives.

Your questions about the Gesslein Indy Style

1)

Hi,

I am just wondering Whats the difference between Gesslein Indy, Gesslein FX4 and Gesslein F4 Air. The body seems so similar. Can I use the pram / carrycot from one to another - are they compatible?

Hi, Maki!

A good question, it is true Gesslein strollers are quite similar in how they are built.

The Gesslein Indy is the "highest" model here in terms of luxury and variability. It offers quite a number of different seat configurations including numerous reversible seats, lie-flat as well as bucket-type seats, and is made so that it is fashionable. You can choose this one in so many ways to make it the most fitting for your lifestyle as well as fashion style - there are even leatherette variations in terms of colorways and patterns.

The Gesslein FX4 Life or Gesslein FX4 Classic only offers these two options. It is equipped with the same, rather light but sturdy frame as the Indy is, but offers fewer variations and fewer colors available. However, it offers height adapters and a few more cool features, and a sleeker style (but this is relative to your own taste, of course). In my opinion, as the newest model (and more affordable than the Indy), it is the best option here. You only need to choose if you prefer the lie-flat Classic seat or the bucket Life seat similar to Joolz strollers.

The Gesslein F4 Air+ is the oldest model here. It is also the heaviest and the largest. The frame is less sleek, bigger, and bulkier than the one of the Indy and FX4.On the other hand, the suspension there is, IMO, a bit nicer, but that's about it. The F4 only offers its lie-flat, older-style seat.

About the carrycot option, there are multiple carrycots to choose from. Anyhow, the F4 Air's bassinet featured DIFFERENT attachment points so that is only compatible with the older models. The Indy features its own dedicated carrycots (like the Relax), and so does the FX4 (for the FX4, there is the dedicated CX3 carrycot). So no, the carrycots of these three prams are not compatible in between the models.
