Silver Cross Surf 2
The Silver Cross Surf 2 is the second generation of the luxurious Surf stroller with the original designer chassis made from magnesium alloy. The Surf 2 was launched in 2014. The name of the stroller is inspired by the nature of the ride. Thanks to the pneumatic suspension, the child is comfortable and feels like riding on the waves.
The chassis offers a relatively compact fold, but only without the seat attached. The small shopping basket, originally found behind the front axle, was relocated and placed directly under the seat. It also increased in size, and its shape is slightly bent in the second generation. The handlebar is now more luxurious, covered in leatherette. Compared to the previous generation, the wheels are now slightly bigger. Two smaller front wheels can be exchanged for the optional front axle with a single, fixed Trekking wheel. Thus, the predominantly urban Surf 2 transforms into an all-terrain three-wheeler suitable even for a light sport.
The reversible bucket type seat can be tilted to a fully reclined position. By adding the newborn insert, the Surf 2 seat will be suitable from birth. The set, consisting of a hood and a matching, zip-open apron, are included with the seat unit. The front of the apron features a zipper, so you don't need to take the whole apron off before your child is seated. Other color packs are available, giving you a chance to change the look of your stroller and personalize it over time. The Surf 2 base package also includes a seat liner, a parasol, and a rain cover. A wide range of other related accessories is available separately, including Summer packs, Winter packs, and the unique sibling board for an older brother or sister. A carrycot is available for your newborn, creating a full-featured system. The carrycot of the second generation shares the hood and the bumper bar with the seat unit. Thanks to the bamboo linning, the carrycot is also suitable for overnight sleeping. Alternatively, the Silver Cross or other popular brands of car seats can be added.

Parent reviews of the Silver Cross Surf 2
- modern design
- easy manipulation
- easy folding/unfolding
- newborn kit
- big selection of accessories
- waterproof and color-stable material
- trouble-free - at least for us
- small shopping basket, so if you are planning to do some bigger shopping, I do not recommend this model
- due to smaller wheels not suitable for the terrain and deep snow
In my opinion, this is an excellent pram for modern mummies who are planning to use it predominantly in the city. I have been using it from the birth of my second child, and it still looks like new - the color has not faded at all. You can easily fold and unfold it with one hand. I recommend it to those who don't want to push something huge in front of them. I also appreciated it in the shops, where I could easily maneuver between the aisles.
I don't think that the dimensions of the stroller have a negative impact on the baby's comfort. Our two children did not mind the bucket-type seat unit. With a footmuff, I would recommend this stroller for up to a year/year and a half of the child. Without a footmuff, the use could be a little longer.
Overall, I'd buy it again! 🙂
Your questions about the Silver Cross Surf 2
Hi,
I bought a Silver Cross Pioneer pram and would like to know if I can use the Surf hood (canopy) and apron on my pioneer. Will it fit? Thanks.
Hey, Josie,
I don't think the two are interchangeable, at least not officially. I suggest checking with the Silver Cross customer service to me bure, but personally I would stick with the accessories meant for the particular model/line in this case.
I have Silver Cross Surf 2 for my first baby but the chassis has a problem with folding. I want to buy Pioneer Constellation chassis, and I don't know if the carrycot and pushchair are compatible.
Thank you
Hi there,
I am sorry to say the carrycot nor the seat unit of the Surf 2 are compatible with the Pioneer, no. The attachment system is different, so you won't be able to click those on a Pioneer chassis.
Hi, Scarlett,
If you mean the click-on attachment system, it is the same on the Surf 1, Surf 2, and even the Surf 3, so the click-on parts should be interchangeable.
I wouldn't however, recommend using the older Surf 1 seat unit on the Surf 3, for example, firstly as it is worse in functionality and also because of the material getting old, possibly fitting worse. It should be, however, possible.
I have bought a navy colour pack for the Silver Cross Surf and the hood fits and zips on perfectly - but the cover for the carry cot does not have a zipper to attach onto the base!?
Hi,
there's a difference between the Silver Cross Surf (1st edition) and the Surf 2! The apron for the carrycot is 'cleaner', zipper-operated on the second edition, but it is overlapping, no zipper on the first. So the Surf 1 and Surf 2 carrycot aprons aren't really compatible. For the Surf 2, you need the Surf 2 color pack set.
