Best Deals for Mamas&Papas Airo
Parent reviews of the Mamas&Papas Airo
- Looks nice
- Folds small
- When baby is laid flat arms fall out the sides
- Small hood doesn’t cover much when reclined
- Small useless basket
- Hood keeps falling off when folding
Really dislike for younger babies, wouldn’t say it’s suitable for under 6 months like advertised. I am really disappointed in it for the price.
- design is beautiful
- fabrics are so nice
- light and compact
- handlebar adjusts (a pro just "on paper")
- rucksack mode
- handlebar has quite a will
- handlebar is too low
- when laying flat, the parent kicks the seat (it's in the way)
- expensive
It's a bit of a disappointment. I LOVE the upright seat that they promoted. The surface is also nice, and the padding and overall finish just yummy. But the handle is sooo low... 99 cm at the higher, and only one other (lower!) position for, I guess, the older sibling..?
When in the fully reclined position, I always kick the back of the seat with a canopy. And it was such an expensive little stroller!
There are many nice things about it, but these are kind of a deal-breaker for me.
I wanted a stroller compact for the plane while being newborn-friendly. This works with a bassinet as well as a car seat. The robust wheels and the upright seat seem like a bonus! 😊 So I guess I found what I needed.
- size
- looks
- fully reclining seat
- accepts a car seat
- basket
- shallow, open seat
- doesn't feel sturdy as much as I expected
Small after folding and with an easy fold. Backpack possibility of carrying. Fits the carry-on requirements. Sturdy-feeling wheels. Bumper bar included. And has an upright seat back. Those are the reasons we got it.
On the other hand, one should know the minuses as well. A low-positioned handle bar, a small, shallow basket, a shallow seat with a rather short canopy (when napping), and doesn't feel as sturdy in the handle area.
If style and size is a priority, I guess I can recommend it. But I am not sure I'd buy it again. I like a lot on this little buggy, but I would change quite a lot as well.
- Style
- Lie-flat seat and car seat compatible frame
- Rubber, chunky wheels
- Easy and compact one-hand fold
- Short-ish hood
- Wobbly handlebar
- Handlebar doesn't go too high (my hubby hates that he slumps when pushing the pushchair)
- QUite a high price
I love the quality feel of the fabrics and the luxurious details reminding me of our main pram, Ocarro. On the other hand, this one's handlebar feels more wobbly (I guess it's the joint/adjustability making it so). The hood in the lie-flat position could also provide more coverage.
The buggy is, however, super compact and reasonably lightweight, and stylish as hell 😎🤩
Your questions about the Mamas&Papas Airo
Hi,
How do you lock front wheel on the pushchair?
Hey, Mo,
It seem the Airo's front wheels don't lock.
I’m wondering how wipe clean the fabric is? Is it almost shiny fabric. I’ve had a stroller which was great you could wipe down with a damp cloth or baby wipe if you were out but also had one that the fabric was so woolen everything stuck to it. So if you used a baby wipe the pram would keep half the wipe or the fluff from the cleaning cloth.
Hey, Natalie,
I believe you should hand wash this only. I would use mildly soapy water, a softer brush, and then wipe the moisture out with a soft cloth. I would say you can use water-based wipes for smaller dirt for sure.
Also, here's my article about stroller cleaning and maintenance, it could help in your case too.
Hi, Miriam,
Unfortunately, no, the Airo needs its own, differently shaped car seat adaptors, and the Armadillo's won't fit.
Can this be used on airlines as hand luggage?
Hi, Zoe.
Yes, with the folded size of 55 cm x 45 cm x 25 cm, the Airo can be used as cabin luggage stroller with most airlines. The best practice is always to check with your airline, of course.
Is the sun canopy suitable for a holiday in hot weather (30C+)?
We’re looking for a cabin size option for a 6 month old!
Hi, Kathryn,
If you're asking about the UPF protection factor of the canopy, it will be enough, yes. If you, on the other hand, wonder whether the canopy is large enough in the lie-flat position, covering your child, then no, I am sorry, but MOST ultracompacts have a short canopy, which is even more prominent in the reclined position.
One of the rare travel buggies with a large summer hood is the Maclaren Atom (for full Maclaren Atom stroller review and pictures click HERE).

Is the Airo pushchair seat reversible, I mean is it parent facing? It’s a really important feature to me.
Hello, Sarah,
No, the Airo's seat is not a reversible one. As an ultracompact pushchair meant for plane travels and occasional use, it was not designed to be reversible - pretty much no ultra-compact is (read more about ultra-compact strollers here). Except for the Bugaboo Ant which, on the other hand, offers a very limited seat space.
For your inspiration, the smallest reversible stroller that is not very cramped I can think of is either the Cybex Eezy S-Twist², so maybe check that one. It is, however, a bit larger than a cabin-sized piece of luggage.
