Joie Evalite Duo

see 2 parent reviews

The Joie Evalite Duo is an ultra-light tandem stroller featuring two non-reversible seats, one in front of the other. The rear seat is suitable from birth as it can be reclined fully and offers a possibility to add a car seat. The front seat only allows for a slight recline and does not accommodate a carrycot nor a car seat. It is, therefore, suitable for an older child already able to sit up independently. The Evalite Duo is destined for less challenging city strolls with two children with a small age gap.

I probably wouldn't change it

4
  • Both kids together, not one under the other
  • The stroller is light and very easy to handle, even with one hand
  • The older one can climb up and down by herself (down with a bit of help)
  • The harnesses can be unzipped with one click
  • Convenient brake
  • A little bit of occasional squeaking
  • Occasionally the brake gets stuck
  • Older daughter is a bit cramped with her autumn jacket and footmuff - but she's really big for her age
  • The seat could be more reclining for the older child
  • Rear canopy doesn't completely cover the sides

Except for a few minor things, I am very satisfied and probably wouldn't change it.

  • Slim, can fit through doors
  • Not much basket space
  • Back seat doesn't completely sit up so the child is always slanted
  • If the front person is sleeping they will be almost on top of the back person
  • No space

It is good for young up to a year old - then I would look for something better.

Your questions about the Joie Evalite Duo

1)

Would it be possible to attach a buggy board to this stroller? Also could you get adapters so that a maxi cosi car seat clips in?

Hi there,

Unfortunately, I won't make you too happy. This stroller only works with a dedicated Joie car seat that clips on the bumper bar, and there are no adapters (nor space for them) available, so it won't work with a Maxi-Cosi car seat.

About a buggy board, in theory, it can be attached. the very limited space between the end of the seat (canopy) and the handlebar (meaning a very awkward standing angle for the child on the board), and the already longer chassis with seats for two kids will be VERY cumbersome with a buggy board, the steering will become hell as the center of gravity will be off plus you won't have much space to comfortably hold the handle nor much space for your steps - so I would suggest against using a buggy board on this, especially if there not only smooth new sidewalks but also bumps and curbs around you.

2)

Are Joie Evalite Duo suitable to travel with on a plane?

We will be travelling a far distance and have multiple kids. I would like to use the buggy to keep everyone together but I can't see anywhere on the buggy if it is allowed by the airport. We will be travelling from Dublin to South Africa. Layover most likely in Dubai.

Any advice please.

Hello, Marjole,

It definitely is possible, but it's not totally comfortable – it's a bulky model, and you will, most probably, need to check it in. There are some airlines that do allow baby luggage (that you take up until the plane, then is taken over by the stewrdsň, but this depends on the airline and also on the age of the child(ren).

Otherwise, the checking it in is your only option - nad it is possible, however, sometimes, the handling can get a stroller scratched or even damaged. This is not a rule, just does happen from time to time. Which is where the trend of tiny travel strollers came - people wanted the strollers with them.

Ideal is to check your options with the airline(s) of your choice, and be ready to have to check it in.

Ho I've recently got a Joie Evalite Duo second hand. I've brought it home to wash the seats however i can't remember how I disassembled the fabric from the back seat and now it won't stay sitting up it only lays flat. I was hoping to find a more instructive manual that might show me how to do this. If u have any suggestions or knowledge of how I can do this I would be most grateful. Many thanks.

Hey, Donya,

Unfortunately, I don't. I often suggest people to take pictures or better yet, make a footage of what they did as this problems occurs very often, not knowing how to put it back, I am sorry. Try, perhaps, the Joie customer service, perhaps they have something internal.
