Baby Monsters Alaska

see 1 parent review

The Baby Monsters Alaska is an evolution of the Phoenix released for 2020. This super lightweight, ultra-compact stroller is a perfect urban companion. Thanks to the high weight capacity, the possibility to recline the backrest as well as the leg rest flat, combined with the generous total seat length, the Alaska holding up to 24 kg is very suitable even for an older child, even though accepting a smaller baby as well. The robust, UV protective hood is now even bigger. It is possible to remove the hood and replace it with another one in a different color. Another advantage is the spacious shopping basket, the bumper bar, and handlebar covered in leatherette, as well as enlarged wheels. Each wheel comes with an individual, mild suspension. To create an exciting and colorful combination, the Color Pack, consisting of the neoprene hood and safety belts pads, adds a bit more color to the gray and black base of the stroller. With new colors now available, you have a generous range to choose a combination you like. Other essential accessories, such as a colorful seat liner, a rain cover, and a mosquito net, are available separately. Using corresponding adapters, the Luna car seat or another well-known brand with Maxi-Cosi type of attachments will provide a comfortable ride for your newborn baby.

  • Rear wheels suspension
  • Lays flat
  • Not heavy
  • compact
  • Robust and stable
  • Truly large sleeping surface - almost a meter!
  • Smaller rear wheels
  • No suspension on front wheels
  • Small-ish basket
  • No in-between leg strap securing the child against falling out of the stroller
  • No accessories included (no rain cover nor cup holder) - I don't mind, I have my own universal ones, but somebody could mind it

This stroller is very stable, robust. I appreciate the rear wheels' suspension, and also the fact that the wheels don't get full of stones. I recommend the grey colorway - even if not as "funky", the hood is better quality and thicker, which is good for the winter. It looks better than on the pictures. It is capable of some all-terrain ride, but I would classify if best suitable for the city.

Your questions about the Baby Monsters Alaska

1)

I was wondering which of the following strollers would be best to handle uneven terrain (Cybex Eezy S+2, Baby Monsters Alaska or [[ergobaby-metro-plus|Ergobaby Metro Plus)?

Between the Ergobaby metro plus and the Baby Monster Alaska, which one is better on rural terrain? Would the Monster Alaska be allowed on the plane?

Hey, Michael,

The larger the wheels and overall size, plus the more suspension on such a largerframe + wheels, the better the stroller will handle terrain and bumps. Your options are all urban model, so you cannot really expect any great terrain capability, however, the best at handling some unevennesses will be the Alaska here. The second best would be Cybex, as it has a bit larger wheels - but it's a bit, these are definitely not super large wheels. The Metro+ will not be ok on terain at all, it's purely a travel stroller. Again, you need to count on all of these being meant for the city, and for terrain, you'd need a much larger, sturdier stroller.

The Alaska will not be accepted as cabin luggage on a plane, however if you need the stroller to go travel with you, you can either check it in, or, as baby luggage (with many companies, it is free, but with the cheaper ones, they may be a fee), you can take it to the plane, give it to the stewards, and then get it back when you get off the plane.
