A frame compatible with a Nuna Pipa Lite RX AND a double stroller fitting a 42inch 3.5yo

Amanda • 21 Aug 2023

I have a 41 inch tall 3.5 year old and a newborn. I have a Bugaboo Butterfly and Baby Jogger City Mini GT2. The Butterfly fits my toddler’s height, but other strollers have not. He often grazes the canopy.

I desperately need something small I can put the baby’s Nuna Pipa Lite RX onto when we are in and out of the car running errands. She’s getting heavy for me to carry around. I really just need a frame for now, but I can’t seem to find an empty frame/chassis that is compatible with the Nuna seat.

Next, we go to Disney World often. Our first trip with both kids is in 5 months. My oldest fit in the City Mini GT2 for our last trip but has grown since then. and I’m honestly not sure if he is too tall for it, I haven’t tried it in a while. Part of the appeal of the Butterfly was storing it in the overhead compartment when we travel, but the baby was a little surprise :)

Basically, I'm wondering what our best double stroller option might be (or single that converts to double) and then what I can get to snap the Nuna seat into without lugging out a huge stroller.

I’m in the US, and I’d like to keep the strollers under $700-800/ea. Budget is $3-400 for a simple stroller to carry the Nuna seat.

Thank you!

Hey, Amanda,

And your Butterfly doesn't offer Maxi-Cosi car seat adapters? Because if they are available where you are, they should fit the Nuna Pipa car seat. It is, of course, best to try (ideally in a baby store somewhere), as the offer differs from country to country, however, I believe that if you can get Maxi-Cosi/Cybex adapters for the Butterfly, you should be able to attach the Nuna car seat on those as well.

Apart from that, and to be sure, just go with a Nuna frame. I mean, they are trying so hard not to support any other brands then theirs lately, meaning a Nuna frame would be your best bet. Look at the Pepp Next or the trvl (the trvl I honestly don't like much, though, the Pepp is so much better).

Apart from that, the Uppababy Minu V2 should offer that compatibility, and honestly, any other stroller offering Maxi-Cosi/Cybex adapters. Even the City Mini GT2 - with adapters.

Btw, I do believe your 3.5yo will fit your CMGT2 still, maybe a little tight, but he will - I mean, you won't find many more spacious strollers anymore, and a double will actually be less spacious, whichever you will pick - which is why be sure NOT TO go for a singe-to-double (=with reversible seats). Those will simply be too tiny for your older son.

About that double stroller, check the City Mini GT2 Double or the Valco Snap Duo Trend, which are two of the most spacious-seated ones. Apart from these side-by-sides, I would only look at a single converting to a double with a bench seat, otherwise, your older, as I've mentioned already, won't fit. So, a [[baby-jogger-city-select-lux|Baby Jogger City Select Lux with the bench seat accessory is actually your best bet to fit the older one IF you'd need that tandem single-to-double.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
