Gesslein S1

see 2 parent reviews

The Gesslein S1 is a dynamic, easily maneuvrable umbrella stroller. It is a successor of the Gesslein Swift, it is therefore also known as S1 Swift. There are a few significant improvements on the S1. The backrest can be fully reclined, the leg rest can be lifted up as well. The hood of the S1 is prolonged. The plastic see-through panels on the sides of the hood disappeared, and the peek-a-boo window can be closed now. The stroller is a great companion for urban walks or travels due to its low weight, compact fold and the possibility to attach a car seat.

A great buggy

4
  • Compact
  • Spacious
  • Large basket

A great buggy, I was very happy with it.

  • single wheels
  • high load capacity
  • sturdy chassis
  • hard leg rest (not just fabric)
  • sufficient backrest length
  • deep basket
  • when folded, it is one of the shorter umbrella strollers
  • brake
  • lower handlebar

I chose this buggy mainly because of the price (it was discounted), and I am pleasantly surprised. I bought it as our last buggy for occasional use.

Despite two separate handlebars, it can be easily pushed with one hand as the chassis is sturdy and the handles are bent inwards. I am 173 cm, and sometimes when I am in a hurry, I kick the chassis. Even though the wheels are smaller in size, they are not doubled, so they do not rattle and pass also through uneven terrain. The suspension is weak, as with other similar buggies. It is easy to push even with a 17 kg child. The wheels' material is harder, stones can sometimes get stuch inside. I struggle a little bit with the brake, as sometimes it does not work at the first try.

The backrest is long enough, even for taller kids. Even my 4-year old (115 cm) has 1 cm space between his head and the canopy 🙂 The leg rest is strong and longer than in other buggies. The backrest can be reclined to an almost lay-flat position. The canopy can be enlarged and as such, sufficient even during the summer. Many parents will also appreciate that it has a peek-a-boo window. The fabric is typical for the Gesslein, a beautiful vibrant color. A big plus is a shopping basket that is surprisingly large and easily accessible.

Overall, I rate this buggy for its quality, sturdiness, and maneuverability, high - I'd give it 5*.
