Baby Jogger City Tour Lux
The Baby Jogger City Tour is a superior version of the original urban, ultra-compact City Tour, released in February 2018. The full-suspension chassis provides a smoother ride, but the smaller wheels make the City Tour Lux more suitable for city walks. The handy brake is situated on the side of the handlebar.
Compared to the City Tour, the City Tour Lux features a reversible seat. In both directions, the seat offers a deep recline that goes to an almost flat position suitable for babies of 6-7 months of age and older. The leg rest is adjustable too. The robust hood with double pop-out sun visor will protect your child against the elements. The City Tour can be folded even with the seat in whichever direction. Although the folded City Tour Lux is a bit bigger than the City Tour, it is still a lightweight stroller which can easily fit into the boot of a small car. The folded City Tour Lux can be easily carried either by the carry strap, by the shoulder strap or on your back in the travel bag which is also the only included accessory. The travel bag is conveniently stored in the pocket of the shopping basket. Other accessories including the rain cover and the bumper bar are available separately.
A new hard carrycot and a car seat with adapters can be attached to the chassis, making the City Tour Lux a travel system suitable from birth. The carrycot folds in half to reduce the storage space and can be even folded with the stroller. The City Tour Lux is not only a convenient secondary stroller but also an alternative to a full-size stroller system for active urban parents with limited storage space.

Best Deals for Baby Jogger City Tour Lux
Parent reviews of the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux
- Compact
- Lightweight yet quite robust
- Handbrake
- Narrow seat
- Smaller wheels
I wanted a stroller that would be lightweight, compact, had an open basket even in the sleeping position, could be turned to face in the opposite direction, had a canopy with the possibility of extension and a window for watching the child, a handle in front of the child, positioning of the legs. I needed it to be possible to buy a bassinet and adapters for a car seat, or a board for an older child. At the same time I wanted the stroller to be elegant and just look nice. Baby Jogger City Tour Lux fulfils all of this.
After the first few days of use, I got excited about the handbrake, I no longer have to look for something under my feet in public transport. Another thing is stability. With this stroller, I have never had a situation where I would take the baby out and the stroller would tip over under the weight of the bag. The handle is long and there is really a lot of room to walk, no digging into the bag or stroller structure. The wheels are made of a material that doesn't get stones stuck in them, so they still look great after extended use.
However, the downside is the small wheels. It's a price to pay for the weight and stowability. You have to take into account that you may have a problem in the city, where there is, for example, cracked concrete, holes, cobbles. The ride won't be as smooth and sometimes you'll get stuck. Another disadvantage is the width of the seat. The stroller is really narrow. A larger child can probably fit in there, but the question is how comfortable it will be for them.
I would sum it up by saying that it's a bit of a buggy for the demanding. For those who don't want a typical buggy, but something sleek, compact.
- Compact after folding
- Able to stand after folded
- Collapsible gondola
- Sunshade on 6m+ seat is horrible and will not stay up
- Handbrake a little stiff
I was very excited to get this stroller as I've heard good things about the brand and the description fit what we were looking for. It maneuvered pretty well although a little too bumpy on uneven ground. Also did not do too well in snowy conditions. However, I was still very happy with it till we switched out the gondola (carrycot) for the seat unit 5 months later.
It is quite an open seat but the worst thing was the sunshade! It would not stay up at all when in recline and kept flopping down. I immediately listed the stroller for sale at a huge discount just to get rid of it and went on to purchase another brand. It was very disappointing because I believe the other strollers by Babyjogger are much better in quality.
Compact and easy to maneuver, but I don't think it's worth the money. There are a few things that are really annoying and inconvenient. It's unwieldy to open, and you definitely can't do it one-handed if holding your baby. The brake is on the handlebar and is really stiff. You sometimes need two hands just to turn the brake off and on. The shade hood doesn't stay in place and constantly flops back. If the baby is lying flat, the shade hood eventually falls completely back unless you constantly yank it back into place (which then wakes the baby). Other than it being compact when folded, I really don't understand why this has such good reviews. Really disappointed.
- Lays completely flat
- Easy manipulation
- Super compact after folding
- Large hood
- Large basket
- Front-wheel suspension
- Reversible
- The hood has only two positions - completely extended or completely folded down, nothing in between
- I miss some kind of a plastic footrest for bigger children
A super compact little stroller. Good to push, good driveability. But I feel like they didn't do anything 100% - I am used to a higher standard with the Baby Jogger brand.
When the child is sitting, and you want it to be completely covered, just open up the sun visor - and there it is, a full-coverage shade. The chassis can be folded down with the seat unit in any direction. Overall, I rate it quite high, since I am using it (for me) unusually long :-)
Your questions about the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux
Hi! I've purchased a BJ City Tour Lux, but I'm having trouble with the sun cap - it falls down almost immediately if baby is in the reclined position. Is there anything I can do about it?
Hey, Charlotte,
It may be a faulty piece or a piece that was shown in a store, as it should not fall just so. If there are screws, that may be tightened, but usually, there are bolts, and you can't d much about it. Try asking the seller for a warranty repair or replacement.
Our stroller seems to have locked down one side and it won't fold.
Hi, Beety,
You will definitely need to contact the Baby Jogger customer service, or the seller/distributor you got the stroller at/or any around you, as there is probably damage in the joint/internal wires, preventing the folding down. It is not a thing I can help you with long-distance, definitely you will need servicing.
What car seats can be attached to this style?
Hello, there!
You need adapters to attach a car seat. With the Maxi-Cosi/Cybex style adaptors, all Maxi-Cosi, Cybex, Nuna, Joie, Kiddy, Recaro, Clek Liing and Avionaut car seats can be attached. With a Baby Jogger adapter, Baby Jogger City GO can also be attached. With the britax style adapter, Britax B-Safe, B- Safe 35, 35 Elite and BOB can be clicked on. And in the US, there's also a Chicco adapter for the Chicco Keyfit 30, and a Graco adapter for the Graco Snugride Click Connect 30, 35 and 35 LX.
The handle is wobbly, is it normal? And I see some Asia version on the internet, the reclining back has 4 positions, but I bought the American version only has 3 positions, they are different?
Heya, Shirley!
Yes, unfortunately, a wobbly handle is quite a normal thing, mainly on lighter models. If it's not crazy loose, making the push almost impossible, you will only need to live with that, I'm afraid. Even a much larger model - e.g., a Cybex Priam, has the same, wobbly/loose push bar problem.
About the American versus Asian version, this is also rather normal. Manufacturers often make changes to their products depending on the requirements of the target market and the habits of their inhabitants. There are also versions with different colors or details just to please and catch the customers. Don't worry about that at all, it is not a fault of the product.
Hi,
How many kg baby can use this pushchair? My baby is 14 kg. Is it possible to use?
Hey, Reina,
This stroller is originally meant for up to 15 kg of weight of the child. I believe its frame can survive a few more (e.g., 16-17 kg in the seat); however, the seat itself is not too large. A 14 kg child will already be quite stuffed into it, with not much space for the legs and on the sides. So you should be able to fit your child but I wouldn't suggest getting this model, nor any other reversible seat stroller, for a 14kg child.
Do consider something world-facing, mid-size - e.g. a Baby Jogger City Mini2 or an Oyster Zero, if you want enough space for your baby.
Can I buy the chassis only?
Hi,
Normally, you can't, no. If you need it for a particular reason (like yours got broken etc.), I would suggest contacting a Baby Jogger distributor (or contact the Baby Jogger's customer service directly) and ask if they could order you the chassis as a spare part (arguing with your problem/a faulty frame - and the want to stay with the pushchair you already own). You probably will need to pay a fee for that, but it's your best bet.
Most distributors can order parts like these - the more so with the world-famous brands.
Can I buy the chassis only?
Hello, there!
The frame itself is not sold separately - if you need it as a travel system only (just the chassis with a car seat), I would call/email a retailer if that option is possible (maybe he can order the chassis as a "spare" part if it's an official distribution - or if you maybe try Baby Jogger directly), but I wouldn't expect much, really. It may be that this option won't be that cost-effective - and you can always sell the whole pushchair better after you're done with it.
Does it meet the requirements of carry on luggage ?
Hello, this always depends on the airline, which you need to check the requirements with, but overall, no, the folded width of 17.71 in and the folded length of 22.04 in making it not acceptable as hand luggage by quite a few airlines. They will take it from you when you enter the plane and give it back to you when getting out, mostly.
