An ultra-compact travel stroller for cobblestones

eb085 • 02 Jul 2023

Hi,

I'd love to know which ultra-compact travel stroller you'd recommend for use on cobblestones? The ones I'm most interested in are the Joolz Aer+, BabyZen YoYo, Bugaboo Butterfly, and Leclerc Influencer, so it would be good to get your view on which of those would be best on this terrain in particular.

For context, I live in Lisbon and am considering getting a Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 as our main buggy (we live in a small first floor apartment so need something compact and light even for our primary buggy). This main buggy (whether it is the GT2 or not) won't be cabin-size approved though, so I think we will also need an ultra-compact for travelling.

I can see scenarios in which I would occasionally want to use the ultra-compact option in Lisbon too (plus we will mainly be travelling to other European cities), so I want to get the best option for cobbles. I appreciate none of these options will be amazing for this given their compact nature, but it would be great to know which of the lot you think would be best.

Thank you for your help on this!

Best,
Emma

P.S in case relevant, the other options on our shortlist for the main buggy are the Cybex Mios, Cybex Easy Twizt and the Oyster Zero Gravity. Might send you a separate question on this at somepoint!

Heya,

Well, you are right, no striller actually is a friend of cobblestones, and ultra-compacts with their really small wheels and frames will suffer on cobbles in general. Your best bet is to get one that is sturdier / higher-quality, chassis-wise, and has at least some suspension to kind of handle it. And out of your options, I would say the Joolz Aer Plus is the best, well made and has a bit of that suspension.

Apart from that, I would also mention the Chicco Goody which has a bit larger, sturdier wheels, and also the Cybex Eezy S+² which's wheels are even a tad bigger still, so these two, cobblestones-wise, could also be nice candidates.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
