An ultra-compact stroller from birth til 4 years

Aya • 29 Mar 2023

Hello Eli,

I’m pregnant now for the first time, I really don’t know which stroller to buy – I need a light stroller that I can carry with me in the plane and a stroller that is from newborn till 3 or 4 years, I thought of Babyzen but then I saw much cheaper strollers with similarity.

Advice me please.

Hi, Aya,

I must start with "ranting" and telling you that it is not a type of stroller that is comfortable from birth till 4 years. Imagine - this is a stroller that is THE SMALLEST THERE IS, meant for occasional use and travel, not for everyday multi-hour use. You need to be ready for it to be small = small wheels BAD on terrain, small seat - narrow for a 4yo, and often short (like the Yoyo, super slanted and very short backrest), rattly, getting loose with a lot of use.

You need to look at more expensive, better-quality strollers with taller backrests and sturdier frames. I have to say I would NOT recommend an ultra-compact cabin-sized stroller as the only stroller from birth at all. But if you really need one, go for a reversible Recaro Lexa Elite if you're a first-time parent. It won't last till 4 years I think, but it will be practical in the first years. Also, check the Joolz Aer, it has a bassinet option.

I personally would however strongly advice going for something more substantial for a small baby from birth, even at the price of it not being a cabin luggage-sized buggy.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
