Kinderkraft Prime

The ultra-affordable, oval-shaped Polish system
.eli
see 5 parent reviews

The Kinderkraft Prime is an all-terrain, modern stroller system. Thanks to the air-filled wheels and a dual suspension system located on the chassis, the Prime offers a smooth ride even over uneven surfaces. Other advantages include the adjustable handlebar and the accessible, relatively spacious shopping basket.

The backrest and the leg rest of the reversible seat unit can be reclined flat. You can put your newborn into the included carrycot. The mattress of the carrycot can be inclined for an older baby (or for a baby suffering reflux). Using adapters (part of the Prime package), the Prime is compatible with other well-known car seat brands with Maxi-Cosi-type of attachments. The stroller comes with a rain cover, an apron, a changing bag, and an air pump included.

  • price-performance ratio
  • accessories included
  • large, comfy bassinet
  • squeaks often - needs oiling
  • on the bulky side

A cheaper pram that started to squeak now and then, but for the price, the performance is very nice. A comfy bassinet and accessories included are a huge plus.

  • Easy pushing it
  • Lightweight chassis
  • Deep carrycot, ideal for winter
  • The carrycot apron can be opened up to the top of the hood - great in the cold or bad weather
  • Water-proof materials
  • I would like it if the basket could be zipped closed

Absolute satisfaction for an excellent price.

  • thick textiles
  • feels solid-built, robust in your hand (a great plus mainly for daddies)
  • stylish, elegant design
  • nice for bumpy roads - large wheels
  • bug basket for any shopping needs
  • good value for money
  • I am unsure about the safety of the car seat since I found no testing info about it online (and no Isofix there either)
  • short leg rest of the seat unit
  • I would like some more padding in the seat, and more harness regulation options
  • a bit noisy front wheels on very uneven surfaces

You get what you pay for - it's not the most luxurious, features-packed pram, but it's very nice for the price. It's lightweight, and with a bassinet style I prefer design-wise (I love these more robust, oval-shaped bassinets). The seat unit is not the biggest space-wise, but it's enough for the time we plan to use this pram (around 1.5 years). Overall, nice value for money and I can recommend it.

  • beautiful
  • affordable
  • 3in1 system with so much included
  • I found none so far (maybe a bit bulky?)

My baby is due in August, so I haven't tried it yet with a baby inside, but it feels great in my hand, it looks gorgeous - just as pretty as more expensive options like Venicci or Babystyle, but so much more affordable! Happy with the purchase <3

One of the cheaper stroller systems

3
  • Easy handling
  • Quick fold and unfold
  • Quality, waterproof material
  • Large basket
  • Large wheels with air-filled tires
  • Even though it features air-filled wheels, it is not the most suitable model for rougher terrain - the front wheels rattle a bit on uneven surfaces (there is a will in the space they get clicked in the chassis)

Its one of the cheaper stroller systems - and that had to manifest somewhere.

Your questions about the Kinderkraft Prime

1)

Can the Joie i-Snug be fitted with the Prime 2 in 1 - and if so, what adaptors should be used?

Heya, Danielle,

Yes, it does accept the Joie i-Snug 0+ capsule. You will need to use the Maxi-Cosi/Cybex adapters to click it on (the same that also work with the Mink car seat that is included with the 3in1 set.

2)

Is the Joie Gemm car seat (travel system 2in1) compatible with the pram, or it just a car seat¿

Hi, Andi,

Yes, the Joie Gemm car seat IS compatible with the Kinderkraft Prime pram/travel system consisting of carrycot, seat, and frame), BUT only with adapters. You will need the Maxi-Cosi car seat set of adaptors that can be bought with this stroller, the Joie Gemm attachment system is compatible with those. With Maxi Cosi adapters, you can use the separately-bought Joie Gemm capsule on this stroller chassis. So, be sure to ask for those when buying this pram, or ask the seller about them if you already bought it and don't have those yet.

How many months my child realistically sleep in the carrycot before it’s too small?

Hi, Mille,

As the internal dimensions of the Prime carrycot are circa 80 x 35 cm, this is actually a very roomy carrycot. Just for a reference, my 4110 g (when born) son was in a 73.5 cm long bassinet up to his 7.5 months (we was 7.5mo in the middle of winter, with a footmuff). That means that, if your baby is not extremely tall or large, or you are not overly demanding with the carrycot space (like needing 10 cm all around when the baby is inside), this carrycot should last you at least 7 months, but realistically 8-9 months plus (again, depending on the size of your baby as well as your requirements and the season).

Do remember that babies like to be a little tight in their space - that is how they were in your womb, so it makes them calm. A smaller carrycot is not a problem for them, it is more for their parents.

And a P.S.: Here is our carrycot guide with all you need to know about prams' bassinets. It will tell you all about carrycot's features, size requirements, and other things to know what to look for (and what's not that necessary after all).

Can you use an Isofix base with this car seat?

Heya, Angie!

If you mean the original car seat that is normally a part of the Kinderkraft Prime 3in1 set, then no, there's no Isofix base compatible with it. As a quite a cheap pram, that car seat was simply made very simple.

On the other hand, if one goes for the 2in1 Kinderkraft Prime and gets Maxi-Cosi/Cybex adapters with it - then buys a Maxi-Cosi, Cybex, Joie, Kiddy, Recaro, Nuna etc. car seat (all compatible with that kind of car seat attachment), then they could get an Isofix base to that particular car seat model. Not to the Kinderkraft one, though.

Hi,

Can you please explain the difference between the Kinderkraft Prime 2 in 1 and prime 3 in 1?

Thank you

Hey, Simy,

Yes, of course. The only difference is that the 2in1 will be a 2-parts in one set combination, meaning a pram (carrycot) and a pushchair (seat unit), both included with the frame in one package. That means NO car seat (travel system)

The 3in1 set will include the chassis, the carrycot, the seat unit (so the whole 2in1 set) PLUS the car seat with adapters (which is the third part of this stroller system), meaning you have your pram, pushchair, AND travel system all in one package.

So it is the same stroller just with 2 main or 3 main parts included, depending on what you need (and what you don't).

Can you take the carrycot off and use as a standalone unit? Also is the carrycot suitable for occasional overnight use?

Hi, Jade,

You absolutely can detach the Kinderkraft Prime's bassinet and put it on the floor, use it for visits, or just for the short daily nap as a standalone unit, yes. It is, however, not that luxurious and not tested and approved for overnight sleeping, so I strongly advise against such - overnight, instead of a cot - use. Rather get a cot (I mean, even Kinderkraft offers rather affordable travel cots) and if needing something for sleeping on holidays or at grand-parents, be safe, with ventilated-enough, harder mattress product.

Does it really accept Recaro??

Hello,

Yes, the Kinderkraft Prime does accept (newer) 0+ (from birth) car seats as they have the same securing/attachment system as the Maxi-Cosi car seats. And since the attachment points are the same, yes, it does allow for a Recaro capsule.

It also accepts Kiddy, Joie, Avionaut, Nuna, and more car seat brands with the same attachment system.

Can I use a Recaro baby seat? Does it really accepts Recaro??

Hello,

yes, the newer Recaro car seats with the same attachment as the Maxi-Cosi car seats have CAN BE ATTACHED to the Kinderkraft Prime stroller chassis. You do need Maxi-Cosi style adapters clicked on.

Hello, can you please describe the differences between Kinderkraft Prime Lite travel system and Prime (2020)? I see the ads of both and they look very similar. Yet, I believe there are some differences. The fact that I couldn't find a single review online for Prime Lite travel system made me ask this question. The demo videos are all for Prime.

My two other questions are:
1- Does the pushchair stand upright when folded?
2- How safe are the Kinderkraft car seats?

Many thanks.

Hello there,

The main difference between the Kinderkraft Prime and the Kinderkraft Prime Lite is the wheels - the Lite version featuring rubberized EVA foam wheels, which are lighter (and smaller in the front), but also less all-terrain and a bit easier to see damage over time. Other than that, it's just a bit of a fabric update, but functionality stays the same.

Car seat safety-wise, these cheaper car seats that don't have an ADAC or similar testing are never that well off. I strongly recommend only getting the 2in1 system without the matching car seat and Maxi-Cosi type car seat adapters. There's more on the topic of safe car seats in this guide I wrote - which I also recommend checking out.

And no, the pushchair doesn't feature a standing fold.
