Mountain Buggy Duet V2

DISCONTINUED in 2016
The most-narrow, all-terrain side-by-side

At just 63cm in width, the Mountain Buggy Duet V2 can be compared to an ordinary single pushchair and is one of the slimmest double strollers with side-by-side seats. Therefore, the Duet V2 is the biggest competition to the favorite Bugaboo Donkey. Thanks to the well-balanced center of gravity, the Duet V2 is easily maneuverable.

The V2 version was launched in 2014. However, the Duet V2 was improved step-by-step, by adding new features over time the stroller became also known as the Duet 2.5. Compared to the V1, the folding has been simplified and thus, you can manage to fold the V2 using just one hand. The quality of the fabric covers and seat liners has improved too, and new colors were added. New safety belts look better without the extra fabric sticking out. Wheels of the V2 version are now wider to provide more stability even when coming over challenging terrain. An option to purchase the new, puncture proof Aerotech wheels was added. A massive change is also the new Carrycot Plus which is bigger and can be used in three ways. Apart from the lie-flat option, you can attach the carrycot textiles differently to achieve an inclined mode, perfect for babies suffering from reflux. By using a different fabrics set, it can also be converted to a rear-facing bucket-type seat, which is an excellent transition between carrycot and forward-facing seat. Instead of the Carrycot Plus, one or two soft carrycots can be inserted into the seats for your newborns.

The Duet V2 can also be used in the Double mode for twins, combining two carrycots or two car seats. You can also use it for siblings by combining a seat with either a carrycot or a car seat. Alternatively, you can use two seats for older siblings. There is also an optional scooter - the Freerider, that can be added to the chassis as a sibling board to ride with three children at the same time. You can even use the Duet V2 for just one child using one seat with an additional shopping basket with a weight capacity of up to 10 kg. Together with the shopping basket at the bottom of the chassis, the stroller can handle a shopping of up to 23kg. The Duet V2 was also released in a limited edition - the Year of the Monkey (2016).

parents say thx^^

I use it for siblings of different ages. I must say, we could go through everything - it never happened that we would not fit a doorway... it's really compact for a full-size double. My children are on the smaller side, so they fit well, but it's true that the seats are not the most spacious, so large toddlers could be difficult to fit comfortably. The folding is also very nice.

The maneuverability is good - I can do it one-handedly, but a full turn needs both of my hands. Off-road means quite some work while pushing, but that's how it works when you push two children's weight. The most I mind the hoods, however - they look creased, which I am not that fond of.

Your questions about the Mountain Buggy Duet V2

1)

I also have a secondhand Duet! The seat fabric on mine is super worn and no longer holds even my youngest's weight without gradually (and this is happening faster and faster!) unzipping and unpopping until my kid is hanging rather lower than she should if I'm not quite on top of constantly adjusting it... I thought about trying to patch it up but it's really frayed and my sewing skills are not that good so I'm not confident I could do it. I can't find any replacement seat fabric for any of the older versions and I'm really struggling to find any info re. compatibility - why do they not add this info to the blurb on all their spare parts?!

So, my question is, will the Mountain Buggy Duet V3 seat fabric fit (I think) a V2 frame?

Thanks in advance!

Heya, Kat,

I am not sureit will fit. It essentially should, though there were some changes, especially on the leg rest part, so I cannot guarantee it as I never tried that before. I recommend contacting their customer service and asking directly about that, or about V2 spare parts.

Also, you could try and find a tailor around you and give him the fabric so he/she would sew a copy of that. Some can do this, so I'm told.

I bought this stroller second hand (in Denmark) but now I worry if is contains chemistry that might harm my children since it is not the newest model.

Where do I find information about the substances this stroller contains?

Hi, Leyla,

The bad news is that you won't find much about that, unfortunately. Strollers go through a lot of testing when made, so, on the other hand, I wouldn't worry much. Very few strollers actually contain bad chemical compounds and those few who do usually were either faulty or very very cheap, somehow going around the needed tests.

Also good to know is that this is a global, high-quality brand, so the tiny risk is even smaller with Mountain Buggy.

And lastly, of you are not putting your baby naked into the stroller for the whole day and "feed" it parts of the stroller, the amount of chemistry getting into the baby's skin is so low it is almost non-existent even with those strollers containing bad chemicals - and this is not one of them.

All in all, don't worry. You've got yourself a very nice stroller and your babies will be just fine with it. If there would be a problem, you'd already found it, as as an older model, it is on the market for some time already, so it passed the time challenge.

I have a second-hand mountain buggy duet, I think it's a v2. Would a carrycot from a V3 fit on my V2? Really struggling to find any official info about compatibility.

Many thanks in advance

Hi, Claudia,

A carrycot - with the right adapters, of course - should fit the Duet V2, yes. A tiny problem might be, if it was the V1 which had quite a different carrycot AND adapters for those, so there could be a problem; however, a V3 carrycot should be just fine on the V2 if you have (or get) the adaptors (or get the carrycot with adaptors already).
