Moon Scala

DISCONTINUED in 2021
see 11 parent reviews

The Moon Scala is the highest model of the brand for 2018. It is a luxurious 2in1 stroller system with a rather robust chassis featuring smaller front foam wheels and large rubber wheels. The Scala is based on the popular Nuova, compared to which, it has much more detailing, the seat unit is positioned higher, the carrycot is more spacious, the handlebar is adjusted telescopically and the shopping basket is even deeper.

The reversible seat unit features an XXL, extendable and ventilated hood and can be reclined fully. The leg rest is adjustable as well. A newborn will be comfortable in the carrycot or an optional car seat. Adapters for the car seat are already included with the stroller.

The Scala is available in the luxurious Sport, Style or Fashion editions only. The Scala Sport comes in dark colors and dynamic red details. The Scala Lotos from the Fashion edition is featuring contrasting pale flower embroidery on dark fabric and a hood with 3D butterflies. The Style edition includes the Scala Coffee with a dark chassis, matching fabrics and a brown circle on the wheels and the Scala Cream with a dark base and contrasting cream hood and brown details.

  • One minor drawback is that it is harder to steer when going down/up a curb. It's hard to lift. But that's a small thing

Beautiful, high quality from the look, solid. More like a city stroller. Easy one-handed handling. Can be washed. Quality mattress inside. I appreciate above all the look of the "expensive quality stroller", the large and easily accessible basket, the extendable hood, and the extendable/adjustable parent handle.

If I were to buy a new stroller, I would buy the same one again. Love at first sight 😊

I really liked its elegant and clean shapes

4
  • spacious and comfortable stroller
  • large well-designed canopy
  • quality materials and design
  • large basket
  • easy folding
  • poorer manoeuvrability of the pushchair facing the arent when lying flat, in other positions this deficiency disappears

A comfortable stroller, designed more for the city - but it is also able to go through worse terrain like a forest path, or when it snows. I am basically satisfied with the stroller, I really like the really long canopy in both the cot and the seat version. The advantage of the carry cot is undoubtedly its length, I also liked the materials. I got the Cream colour version, the colours hold up nicely. I was worried about the light coloured canopy, but I have to say that the usual spots have so far always come off perfectly with just a sponge with a bit of soapy water.

What is undeniably striking about this stroller is its design, I really liked its elegant and clean shapes. I find the seat quite spacious - the little one is a year old and fits nicely in there even with a footmuff and a space to spare, so I think it will serve us for a long time.

What I would criticize is a bit worse manoeuvrability when the seat is put against the direction of travel and in a full lie-flat, the problem then is to go up on the curb - more strength is needed. However, when the baby is put in a sitting position it is ok, also when the stroller is put in the direction of travel both lying down and sitting it is absolutely fine. Here it helped that I got use of the cot for a very long time due to its length, so we used the rear-facing option very rarely.

Weight-wise, there are lighter strollers on the market but also heavier ones, I had a heavy Polish stroller with my daughter so the weight of this one was fine. Also folding is easy and it fits nicely in my car (with the rear wheels removed).

I will definitely buy it again

  • Long carrycot - a one year old child still has about 10-15 cm of space
  • Beautiful design
  • Large space under the stroller
  • Sliding telescoping handle
  • Easy handling
  • Quick folding and unfolding
  • The only minus - the stroller does not rock (not too much suspension)

An absolutely wonderful stroller. So far we use only the bassinet, but if I have to decide again, I will definitely buy it again.

The wheels are crazy

3
  • Easy steering
  • Nice design
  • 2 in 1 set
  • Plenty of space under the stroller, for small purchases
  • After a short period of use, the wheels start to squeak madly
  • Expensive

I don't know if we would buy the stroller again... the wheels are crazy - and supposedly that's not grounds for a complaint.

  • Manipulation
  • Folding
  • Bassinet size
  • Adjustable handle
  • Large storage space
  • Large bassinet surface
  • Foam wheels, puncture-proof
  • Hood at the right angle, shadowing enough
  • You cannot detach the hood of the bassinet
  • Bassinet doesn't incline

The Moon Scala 2019 is a great stroller for the city and the countryside. We go with him to the mountains to visit my in-laws, so it has tasted terrain many times. The bassinet is big, the little one was in it up to 10 months of age, it has more than the enough shadow thanks to the angle angle and it folds and unfolds great, and I am an anti-technician. The handle is adjustable and the storage space can also carry boxes for the post office. It has a great sun visor.

The only minus - the bassinet is not inclinable, its hood is not detachable, which would be appreciated by a child on its belly, as mine does not want to just lie down and look into the bassinet hood, but outside. Hopefully the next version will improve in this.

Summary: I'll definitely keep it for the next child, I'm happy with it 🌞

The seat unit I did not like at all

3
  • Elegant
  • Comfortable steering
  • Great wheels
  • Quick and easy folding in te car boot
  • The sports part sagged over time when folded into the lying position and the baby was in a slight recline
  • Not a great seat unit
  • Quite heavy a pram

The pram is beautiful and elegant.

Easy to operate with one hand. The bassinet spacious, softly padded and comfortable. The storage space under the stroller is large enough. But the seat unit I did not like at all - visually, but also the practicality of the pushchair was not to my needs. The only advantage of the seat was that it could be turned to face the road as well as the parent.

  • Great wheels
  • Stable
  • Slim and nice to look at, sleek
  • Easy to fit in our Peugeot 207
  • Easy to clean surfaces
  • Extended canopy
  • Long bassinet
  • Large storage space under the bassinet
  • Easy to handle
  • I would add a slightly larger canopy for sun protection

Excellent, stable, narrow stroller. We have received a lot of praise for it. Even though it is bought second hand, it looks like new. We wanted a stroller that would fit in our small boot - and this one is just perfect! I really recommend it, although the canopy could still use a bit more to keep the child out of the sunshine so that we wouldn't need a parasol or a sun visor, but with thos, eit's ok. I'm sure there are better strollers out there, but for us this is it 🙂 Lots of music for a reasonable amount of money. Definitely recommended...

  • carrycot
  • carrycot hood
  • large wheels
  • tall-parents-friendly handle
  • sandal-friendly brake
  • smaller seat, only 84 cm in length
  • smallr seat hood
  • hard to get up curbs
  • heavy

We were deciding between the Nuova and the Scala. The Scala won because of the telescopic handlebar which is so much better for us tall parents. We have space to step in when pushing it.

The carrycot is large and spacious, and its hood is so very nice... The seat is on the smaller side, I am guessing good for maybe a year and a half.

What I am not so fond of would be the basket - it is deep but smaller rather than larger. Also, the weight - it is a heavy pram. Because of that, loading it in the car is not a pleasant experience.

But it's at least nice for our cracked sidewalks. And one last thing - the getting up a curb... it is not the easiest. I guess a workout is a good thing to lose weight, though!

  • perfect for us 🥰
  • loading needs my husband's strength 😊

I own the Scala '20, and I am 161 cm tall. I am happy with it, and wouldn't change it for any other pram. Just with the loading I need help from my husband - but he'll gladly do it, and I have a reason to take him everywhere with me and little Nataly.

Extremely heavy

  • High quality
  • Easy assembly
  • Easy manipulation
  • All-terrain capability
  • Extremely heavy
  • Carrycot shakes very much even if clicked on the chassis properly

High quality, easy assembly and manipulation, and all-terrain capability. It is, however, extremely heavy. Also, the carrycot shakes very much even if clicked on the chassis properly.
