Maxi-Cosi Mara

see 1 parent review

The Maxi-Cosi Mara is a modern umbrella stroller with a specific 3D compact fold that you can do even one-handedly. Apart from its clean design, you'll appreciate its high weight capacity, the extendable hood with ventilation mesh, and the fully reclinable, lie-flat seat that can accommodate even a baby that doesn't sit up by itself yet. The Mara will, therefore, be a good alternative for traveling-positive parents or for the role of the second pushchair to keed in the car boot.

  • it's very cozy
  • easy foldable
  • doesn't take much space
  • the backrest doesn't stay stright and my baby is not very comfortable, I think
  • also, when strolling on a bumpy road, it's a little hard to manage it

I'm satisfied with the buy of this stroller.

Your questions about the Maxi-Cosi Mara

1)

Hello.

I wanted to ask if the backrest can be put in a straight position for the baby to stay, with a straight spinal position? It always seems like she doesn't stay as it should because the angle in it isn't right.

Thank you in advance.

Hello, Blerta,

Unfortunately, no, not really. Many - mainly lightweight, but not only those - pushchairs have a slightly (or very much) slanted position and some kids or moms just need a stroller with an upright position. Not all strollers offer that.

One other thing parents do is putting a belt or any kind of strap behind the backrest and securing it around the bars under it to hold the backrest more upright. This is NOT POSSIBLE with the Mara buggy, however, because it is not a strap = looser recline, but it is a lever-operated one, so there's no way a strap would do it (the mechanism will not allow it, I believe).

The only things possible here are either the child getting used to the seat or a stroller change. Try classifieds where a mom maybe looks for swapping her stroller... or sell yours and get a Chicco Goody with a more upright seat instead.

2)

Do you think this would be suitable for a tall toddler to nap in?

Hello, Emma,

If you mean regular napping, there are certainly better options. The good about the Mara is the padded and rather comfy seat, and even a toddler fits in it in general - but the 44cm seat back and the short-ish leg rest are not the most optimal for regular naps of a tall child. It absolutely can be done, just wouldn't be my first choice for that kind of use - the longer the seat, the better (for naps).
