Joie Pact Lite

see 3 parent reviews

The Joie Pact Lite is a simpler, even more lightweight version of the ultra-compact Pact. Unlike Pact, the Pact Lite doesn’t offer the possibility to attach a car seat. It can be folded with just one hand. When folded, you can carry it either in your hand, on the shoulder or in the carry bag which comes with the stroller. The small wheels with a mild suspension are better on smoother urban surfaces. The Pact Lite comes with a surprisingly spacious, easily accessible shopping basket. The non-reversible can be reclined sufficiently so the Pact Lite can be used as a secondary stroller from birth.

  • low weight
  • easy and quick folding with one hand
  • carrying handle and strap
  • can be reclined to an almost lying down position
  • also suitable for larger children
  • carry bag and rain cover included
  • the leg rest collapses under the weight of the child's legs, it cannot be positioned
  • the canopy is more of a design accessory - it doesn't protect much from the sun, not at all from the cold
  • narrower seat
  • shallow shopping basket
  • handle made of poor quality (smelly) foam

A stroller suitable for fast transfers. Very easy and fast folding - after folding it has the size and weight of a full "plastic bag" from a shop, so I ran up the stairs with it in my other hand and a bag on my shoulder. I was also able to fold and unfold the stroller with the little one in my arms.

Those are the biggest advantages of the stroller, otherwise it's really only for short and easy strolls. The backrest can be folded down almost to a full recline, but the legs have already started to protrude at 9 months, so it's not a comfortable sleeping position. The leg rest is not adjustable and not sturdy - it folds down a bit under the weight of the legs. Until the baby's feet reach the plastic support down on the structure (estimated to be around 2 years of age), the baby's feet will still be dangling out. The canopy is just kind of makeshift, it doesn't protect much from the sun or wind, and it doesn't even have a window to watch the child. The seat is narrow, I can't imagine using it with a footmuff, but I don't think that's even necessary - I wouldn't take the stroller out in the winter.

Otherwise it's pretty well designed for taller children, my older daughter (just under 3 years old - 100cm) didn't look grown up in it at all. The shopping basket is shallow, not much fits in it - a rain cover and handbag ;-) The frame is lightweight but quite solid, a little bit cushioned, it creaks here and there under more weight, but it's nothing terrible. Only the handle is very narrow and made of some poor quality foam, because it made my hands stink every time. The wheels are tiny, but they are enough for this type of stroller. I wouldn't try any snow or terrain - I've walked on the grass with it a few times and worked quite hard to push it there. As a second stroller (in the car, for travel...) I recommend it; as a single stroller, definitely not.

  • lightweight
  • easy to fold
  • not suitable for gravel roads
  • not suitable for a newborn

I like that its lightweight, easy to fold and open, but not so comfortable for new born and for gravel roads. It's a bummer for me as I live around gravel roads, so I can't take her for walks without her getting giddy.

My biggest niggle would be the seat

  • lightweight
  • compact
  • affordable
  • agile
  • seat is small/short seatback
  • seat is not upright

The Lite is really very light! It also looks nice and (on smooth surfaces, like on a better pavement or in the mall) it pushes well. The wheels are small so not the best nor quietest on bumps, which is to be expected. My biggest niggle would be the seat that is not roomy at all - the backrest is short, and so is the leg rest... but also, it is not upright, so my baby is slumped, sliding down, or trying to pull itself forward.

Your questions about the Joie Pact Lite

1)

Is 15kg max weight to carry or can this go beyond 15kg? My baby is 3.5years old and weighs 21kg. Can the stroller accomodate her weight?

Hi, Mari,

I would absolutely say that even if it could accommodate more than 15 kg (+ 2-5 in the basket), the seat is very slanted and small. There's no way you would fit a 3.5 years old weighing 21 kg in this seat comfortably. Also good to add here is that the buggy itself is quite simple and wobbly, so it is not sturdy enough for such an overload.

I recommend going for something substantailly larger, and if it has to be an ultra-compact stroller, it at lest has to be a higher-quality (therefore, more expensive than this) and with a much taller seatback.

2)

Hi Eli,

Is it possible to buy a food-tray for the baby and install it where the bumper bar is? Does this accessory exist for this stroller? And will I be able to get a cup holder for parents and attach it to the buggy somewhere too?

Thank you

Hey, Muna,

I'm sorry I'll disappoint you, but the Joie Pact Lite doesn't offer a fitting food tray for the baby accessory. You can always buy a universal organizer (of any brand, no need for it to be exactly Joie), and keep stuff there, but it won't be where the baby is, sorry.

About a cup holder, there's also not an original Joie drinks holder available. On the other hand, again, you CAN simply purchase a universal one that fits pretty much any stroller. My suggestion would be to get a Skip Hop OR Diono OR... simply check Amazon's cup holders, there's so many uni ones 😉

Do keep in mind that this is a cheaper buggy, and the price does reflect all the features and possible accessories as well. Do help yourself with the universal ones and you'll be fine ;-)

3)

Hi, I have a Joie Pack Lite stroller. While using it once the stroller jerked as it hit a barrier then I heard a click.

Now, after that, the secondary lock to collapse the stroller doesn’t work at all. So I am unable to fold the stroller. Can’t find any help on the Joie website either.

Hey, Carlton,

I am afraid there is not much you can do. If a bump-impact broke something internally, the only real way to (maybe) repair it is to open the chassis, hopefully, find it not broken in half, and put it together. This takes quite some work and there's no way you can simply do that at home. Even if it would be possible to repair it, the cost of sending your pushchair to some kind of professional then paying his service fee would be worth it in the case of your rather Joie Pact Lite budget-friendly model - it would be expensive, I mean, with an uncertain result.

What I would recommend is to try the [brand:joie|Joie]]: customer service and ask for advice (again), but I am afraid they won't tell you more than I just did. So the next step would be either to use it without the folding possibility - or getting a new one. It can even be a pre-owned one if money is important. Or go for another buggy if you don't trust this - but I can honestly tell you that an impact with a bit of unluck might do the same to any other affordable (and even a more expensive) small ultra-compact-style stroller.
