Does the Bugaboo Turtle car seat fit the Bugaboo Gecko stroller frame?

Carrie • 07 Jul 2021

A friend has kindly offered us her old Bugaboo Gecko stroller. We are wondering if there is a Bugaboo car seat that would be compatible with the Gecko frame so that we could seamlessly have one system. It looks like Bugaboo only has one car seat model called the Turtle. In the Turtle compatibility list, Gecko is not included but perhaps that is because it is an older model not being currently sold.

Could you possibly shed any light on this?

To explain, we are due in September and looking for something from newborn to beyond.

Hello, Carrie,

A good question indeed! I mean, yes, the manufacturer doesn't really count the Bugaboo Gecko in the compatibility list of new Bugaboo models anymore since it's actually a really - and I mean a REALLY - old model (it was released 16 years ago, you were probably just a child or a teen 😊 I certainly was 😉).

Also, it is maybe not immediately clear, but the older (before Bugaboo Cameleon 3 prams and pushchairs do have a but different attachment system, so... I will probably disappoint you, but the Bugaboo Turtle doesn't fit other than the Bugaboo Fox, Bugaboo Fox 2 or Bugaboo Lynx. You won't click it on the frame of older Bugaboo models.

Then there's the newer Bugaboo Turtle One car seat that should fit WITH Maxi-Cosi-style ADAPTERS if you have those at hand... But in that case, I would simply go with any Maxi-Cosi, Cybex, Joie, Kiddy, or other good-brand car seat (all feature the same Maxi Cosi style system).

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
