A tall seatback-ed, high weight capacity pushchair for an older toddler

Ki • 25 Aug 2022

Hello Eli,

I already have a great pram that has lasted until my boy is 3 years old but now he’s tall & 15 kg so I need a pram for the next stage.

I NEED a pram that can has a seat back rest of 55cm minimum to 65cm, longer is better-most seem to be under 50cm and he’s too tall for that already. It needs to hold 22-25kg child and I need a large basket that can hold 5-10 kg.

I don’t really like the 3-wheeler sports options I’ve seen, I’d like 4-wheels.

Now for things I’d LIKE:
Full handle bar
Canopy that extends right down
Lighter and easy to carry and fit in a small car.
Hopefully under £300.

Please help me because I’ve spent about 40 hours of research on this already and am getting nowhere.

Hiya, Ki,

65cm backrest doesn't exist, or at least not with conventional strollers - perhaps maybe it does with special needs strollers. You can, however, look also at the space to the canopy which is even more important in such cases when a larger toddler needs a ride.

You cannot get a super tall backrest with a lighter, smaller buggy though. That is why you don't have an answer even after 40 hours of research.

My suggestion would be the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 or better yet, the Baby Jogger City Elite 2, but you say you don't want three wheels... These are actually one of the most spacious models out there. Not cheap, though you can get their first generations rather affordable in classifieds often.

I will also suggest a Britax B-Motion 4 Plus, or a Valco Baby Trend, which are super roomy models.

And a last piece of advice - take your little one to a shop with pushchairs and try yourself - you will see what fits him, and what the offer really is.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
