A suitable stroller for a 3-4 years old?

Maggi • 25 Aug 2022

Can you suggest a suitable stroller for a 3-4yo? Our current buggy with backrest height of 52cm has been outgrown by our almost 3yo (he's 92cm and 13.7kg). Needs to be able to fold fairly compact and be suitable for city living. Budget of £400.

We were looking at the Bugaboo Butterfly but now wondering how long that would last him.

We have another baby on the way so they would then use the stroller once eldest starts walking more! If there's something that could be used with a buggy board that would be a bonus.

Thank you!

Hi, Maggi,

If your toddler is really on the larger side, the Buttefly might accommodate him but it might be a tight fit - I mean, this is an occasional use travel stroller, and fitting the cabin luggage requirements, meaning it is narrow, small even with a taller seat back. So it will last him (perhaps about a year), but only if this is OK with you, the tight space.

With a buggy board (more about that here), I wouldn't want to use such a small travel stroller. You need something roomier that that, and also more sturdy. Look at the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2, the Baby Jogger City Elite 2, or perhaps at the Britax B-Motion 4 Plus or Valco Baby Trend as these are spacious, which is what you need with such a kid. Not perhaps even that backrest height, but the space to the top of the hood.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
