A second stroller with a one-piece fold for my 13-month-old to use for trips

Newmum • 25 Mar 2023

Hi Eli,

Love your reviews and was hoping you could offer some advice. I'm looking for a second stroller for my 13-month-old to use for trips to the country, visits to town, trips to the pool, etc., that I can keep in my car and that folds in one rather than two pieces.

I have a Cybex e-Priam which is super as I live in a very hilly rural area and often go on long walks, but it has two parts and is cumbersome to take in and out of the car, so so I'm looking for a second stroller that can accommodate rural walks and some travel.

It doesn't need to go in the overhead cabin and I've ruled out small travel strollers. My baby is on the 98th centile for height and weight, so I'm looking for something roomy enough so that he's comfortable until he no longer needs a stroller. He also is quite sensitive to the sun. I've had to buy a sun shade to use with my Cybex Priam so I'd love a stroller with a good canopy and good rain cover.

I'm considering the Uppababy Ridge, Uppabay Cruz or the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2. Would you recommend any of these or is there another stroller you'd recommend?

Thanks.

Hey there,

From what you are suggesting, I personally would go for the Baby Jogger. The fold is very flat, much thinner than the other two, and the stroller is nimble for around town as well as ok for bumpier terrain - thus the best compromise for travels. The Cruz is also a two-piece and VERY long after folding, and although the Ridge is very nice for bad terrain, it is heavier and bulkier so not the perfect model for the car.

The real competitor to, if you'd want another option, consider, even if I prefer the BJCMGT2, would be the Thule Spring that is similar sized and also folds rather nicely. The City Mini GT2 is, however, a tad more spacious.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
