A carry-on sized stroller for a tall 3 years old

David G • 18 Apr 2022

Hi there - looking for a stroller for a tall 3 year old (40 inches) which will work well for travel (carry on luggage important).

Currently have a BabyZen Yoyo but he's reached the weight limit already (have the original not the 2).

Won't be too adventurous terrain-wise.. mainly footpaths.

Like the look of the Aster2 but think he could grow out of it - and have the accessories for the Babyzen so maybe just move to v2? The Bugaboo Butterfly looks great but need for family holiday in early May so can't wait for it.

Hi, David,

If you need a carry-on sized ultracompact stroller for a tall 3 years old, I'm afraid even the Didofy Aster 2 won't make it, really. It is a bit taller, but not as tall meaning you will need to swap the buggy again soon. You need a very tall backrest (which is rare in such small pushchairs), and, looking at our top 10+ ultracompact buggies of 2022, just two are like that on the market nowadays.

The Yoyo 2 doesn't really have a taller seat back so don't really think about that one, either, as that won't help you at all. Rather sell the accessories one by one, quite a large sum will come back into your pocket ;-) If really needing either the Aster 2 or the Yoyo2, go for the Aster.

I would, however, definitely invest in either the Joolz Aer or the new Bugaboo Butterfly (which you don't have time to wait for) as only these two have a really high seatback, the Butterfly clocking in on 56 cm! Still, the Aer is then the only buggy suitable for you, time-wise, so rather "save your money" by not saving your money and getting something more expensive that you won't need to swap again very very soon. At least that's what I would do.

Worst comes to worst, you can always check an Aer in the classifieds, pre-owned.

Your -very berry- Eli.

Now, this is your place to ask. I'm listening.
